Get The Look

In my shoot yesterday for MRP Fashionn one of the looks was this gorgeous cat eye with a stained red/orange lip. My model Shannon had amazing skin so lucky for me it was pretty easy to get that gorgeous glow. While I was doing the look I thought it would be perfect to share with all of you this look as a gorgeous night out look.

Summer is upon us here in Cape Town and swimwear is definitely very important in your key staple summer kit. As well as your swim ear your makeup for summer is also key and there is nothing prettier than a bright lip, bronzed skin and bronzed eyes. For this Cosmo editorial the look was all about 70’s glam so bronzer was the order of the day plus Mac morange and ruby woo lipstick for the lips to give the makeup a pop.

I am always in a rush trying to get out in the week for a quick dinner with the hubbie or friends so I am always looking for easy ways to apply makeup and products that just work some magic. I love a smokey eye but unless its a Friday or Saturday night where I can take my time at my vanity table I need one product to create the smokey. If you haven’t gotten your hands on the Clarins Ombre matt cream to powder eyeshadow then this really is the business for a quick smokey eye.

I am definitely a lover of all things fashion and the great thing with my job is that I get to do hair and makeup and be surrounded by fashion all day long. I recently did the hair and makeup for Thalia Strates look book shoot and I fell in love with her hand made hand bags on the spot. Thalia has brought out her latest collection of super cool bags that you can order to how you want and mix and match.

Last night I went out on an impromptu date night with my husband because I am literally working all week with no weekend. I wanted a quick look before we went out as I was tired and didn’t have much time so I took my new little Bobbi Brown Instant Pretty eye and cheek palette that my hubbie bought on the BA flight to create this easy look.

I literally had 5 mins to do my makeup yesterday as we wanted to catch the end of the day before the sun set in France. Our holiday is sadly almost at its end so every minute counts before we head back to Cape Town. I wanted to keep my look fresh and simple without it looking like I had made an effort but also to even out my complexion so base and concealer are really important for this look.

Doing a liner can be really tricky and even when I have to do it on myself I have definitely struggled at times, for me the gel liner is the easiest as its doesn’t run or smdge easy and has amazing staying power. Its a fav look of mine for a shoot and looks so pretty on especially when the rest of the face is left simple and fresh.

Spring is here and its time to add some colour and change the makeup base. When it gets hotter I personally like something lighter so my skin can breath but that also has an SPF to protect me against the sun. I love a pretty flush on the cheeks and lippies that are pink or orange to really brighten everything up.
