Get The Look: Modern Smokey

I think most people think a smokey eye should be a black or chocolate brown but the amazing thing with make up is that it evolves and there are so many ways to do a smokey and it doesn’t have to be a dark shade. In the Jon Galliano show SS13 we saw pops of white mixed with the smokey eye to make the eyes really pop. In this shoot we were shooting Topshop, Forever New and Jo Borkett clothing for Edgars VIP and with the neutral shades we went for a look that would work well with the clothing and also make Emma’s eyes really pop.

So how did I create the look?

Skin: I applied a rich moisturiser so that Emma’s skin was already glowing before I applied the make up, prepping the skin is so key to getting that glowing flawless finish. I used my fabulous Nars Luminous Moisture Cream. The foundation I used was the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk in no 4 and buffed in using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to really work the product into the skin. I concealed under ther eyes using the Mac Pro Conceal and Correct Palette.

Eyes: I prepped the eyes first by applying foundation first to make sure the eyeshadow stays. I blended Mac  eyeshadow in Paradisco and Free to Be  into the socket and winged out and then in the waterline and down to the inner corners of the eye I used my Mac Pro Chromaline in Pure White but you can opt for an eyeliner or a white gel liner. I applied the product on the waterline with a thin eyeliner brush and then with a Mac 263 angle brush I applied the chromaline down in the inner corner of the eye to give a cat effect. For the brows I pplied my trusty Mac brow pencils in Fling and Lingering and then applied Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

Contouring and Highlighting: This was really key in creating this look because it is all about structure which the clothes really had. I contoured using my Chanel Healthy Glow Powders and for the highlighting I used Mac Mineralise Skin Finish in Lightscapade.

Lips: I kept the lip nude so as not to take away from the eyes first I made sure they were hydrated with Carmes lip balm and then I applied Mac Satin lipstick in Siss.

Remember you can play with make up and try anything out. Practice practice practice.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x
