Its that time of year where we are still in winter but can almost see spring even though we have had some periods of summery weather in Cape Town. Even though I love a bold bright lip with the cold weather when we step out in the evening or in the morning we can still sport a dark lip. I am a massive fan of the vamp berry lip with a flawless complexion, loads of mascara and some contouring to finish off the look.

berry lipsYes I love the Mac lippie shades but there are some budget brands like Maybelline that have brought us a gorgeous vamp lip in Possessed Plum (what I am wearing) from their latest Vivid Liquid Matte collection and I am loving it. Its matt but doesn’t look like a total matt lip and is super comfortable on and the applicator makes it really easy to apply. If you really want to go matt then Maybelline’s colour sensational in Divine Wine is a beautiful shade and looks pretty good on any complexion.

Of course I still love shades like Mac Hang up and Darkside look gorgeous on and look with a dewy complexion. If you are looking to go really vamp and super dark then Mac Matte Smoked Purple is the way to go. My Mac Pro Palette in Plums is a definite go to when I am working on a shoot for a darker lip as it has my favourite hang up but also Cyber that is another firm favourite.

And there is the Revlon Ultra HD matte lip colour in Addiction that is also really pretty on and won’t break the bank. I love a matte lip as you can tell it just for me looks so much more modern plus usually lasts the distance and you are not spending every moment reapplying.

What’s your favourite dark lippie?

  1. About a month ago, I bought the Yardley Liquid Matte – Colour: Femme Fatale. I really like although it does dry out the mouth a bit, but I don’t mind really as I can wear it for a long period without it needing re-applying.
