My favourite Highlighters and How To Work Them

highlighter

I have been busy reorganising my kit the last couple of days trying to make  it compact and reaquaint myself with all the makeup I actually have. This morning was the highlighter stash that needed some serious cleaning and reorganising which means keeping some for me personally and the rest for my pro kit. People always ask me what are my key products and what can’t I love without. Ultimately great looking skin is what its really about especially with the makeup trends a lot of the time its about good skincare, highlighted and contoured skin. Yes you may be thinking why do I need so many products but there are so many textures depending on what I want to accomplish and shades for different skin tones.

There are a few top favs of mine in my kit but am always on the lookout for new products because basically I can’t get enough of a highlighter it just totally adds light to the complexion and just gives a gorgeous healthy glow. There are different ways to highlight the skin a more natural way is to work the highlighter on clean skin before applying base basically creating a lit within feel and cream highlighters are great for this like the Mac cream colour bases such as pearl, luna and bronze and the Nars illuminator. Or you can layer the highlighter so as well as applying before you can also apply after foundation and powders are great for this. I am a big fan of the Mac Mineralise Skinfinish highlighters like Lightscapade, Soft and Gentle, Global Glow and Gold Deposit they apply beautifully and make skin look amazing.

Another great way to highlight the complexion is mixing in with foundation to give that overall feeling of a glowing complexion that looks so healthy and beautiful. My favs are Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow and Revlon Skinlights all you need are a couple of drops and mix in with your foundation and voila amazing skin!

Alternatively if you want to be really subtle about it you can invest in highlighter pens like Body Shop Lightening Pens and Clarins Instant Light Brush on Perfector that create subtle highlights that look natural but still looks beautiful. You can apply this product along the cheek bone, bridge of the nose, around the mouth and under the brow bone.

Whta’s your fav highlighter?
