With my new gorgeous vanity table from @home in my lovely new home I needed a new makeup storage unit that wasn't too big. Most of makeup is in my makeup room or in my kit bag so I keep the essentials in my bedroom and I needed something where my foundations can stand up right and all my essentials are easily accessible.
Every week I like to chat about fashion whether its what I am wearing or what I am lusting after. This week its the Cape Town's AKPJ Collective store that now stocks some more fabulous local brands from SA. My good friend Tamara Cherie Dyson who won the Elle style Awards back in 2014 now stocks her line at the store. Her pieces are classic and wearable for day or night and to say I am proud of her for designing her own line is definitely an understatement. But as well as her line there are great brands like like Thalia Strates who I shot her latest look book with designs gorgeous handmade leather bags that are now available to buy at AKPJ.
If there is one shade of lipstick I love its red its just one of those shades that freshens the complexion and also looks glamourous at the same time. Put a red lippie on and keep the rest of your face fresh with mascara and you are good to go. Revlon have definitely upped their game and bring us lipsticks and lip liners that are really top quality. So if you want to go red without breaking the bank then here is a double combo I think you will love.
Last week I somehow forgot to pack my hair tong for a shoot luckily I had enough time to get myself to the nearest Clicks to buy one and still get to my shoot. Staring at me from all the hair tongs was the new Vidal Sasson easy wrap tong that looked like it would do the trick. I am always on the look out for a tong that will give ntaural looking hair and creates a subtle wave. Its unlike any other tong that I have seen as it has a daiamond cermaic wand which makes it so easy to use. There is a on/off switch button so its on it gets hot and you are good to go.
So here are the official pics from my wedding renwal back in March sot by a friend and great photographer Jacobus Snyman. He captured everything so beautifully and I have memories here that I will cherish forever. Not everyone renews their vows but what I can say is that it was the most incredible experience of my life (apart from marrying Rob the first time and having my kids). I wanted to share with you the pics of the day with my beautiful family and my amazing friends. It was emotional, beautiful and so much fun. If its something you are considering doing then do it. Having my kids with me made it so much more special and being able to marry the love of my life again was truly amazing. I cried pretty much all through the ceremony as this time we wrote our own vows and made it so much more personal.
Next week I am off to Italy for one of my best mate's wedding and excited can't even explain how I feel. Obviously I am passing via London which means online shopping was in order. Of course I needed a new dress even though I have at least 50 in my cupboard!!! Plus some extra beauty bits for my personal stash and pro kit so here are a few bits and bobs that I purchased this week:
Even though winter is around the corner in Cape Town I still like to add pops of colour to my makeup. I am now at the stage where I have lost my beautiful tan and I need lots of bronzer and definitely bright lippies. Lipstick is one of those easy ways to boost the complexion and here are some new lippie favs to do just that:
Each winter season I like to add a few key pieces to my wadrobe that really are staple items that I can wear day or night and either be casual or dress up a little. This year I got my key pieces from Zara because they always have amazing coats and knits. That little jacket is always a goodie because its perfect for every day when I am at work but will also look really cute if I dress it up and wear a pair of heels with my jeans for the evening. This coat is great because its got big pockets and a hood to keep my hair protected.
Hand cream has never been one of those things I have been really bothered with until I got the Filorga Hand-Absolute (R400) that comes in this sleek black packaging that just makes me want to use it. Firstly its not your usual Filorga packaging its so much sleeker plus the product will make you want to use again and again. Plus I am 40 so I suppose I need to start thinking about keeping those wrinkles at bay right???
Previous trends from back in the day whether its fashion or makeup always seem to come back in trend and this time is the nineties that's making a come back and of course its a fav of mine. In this shoot I did for Edgars in SA my brief was modern nineties makeup, so taking elements from back then and making it current and cool. Luckily I had a great model to work with to show you the trends that you need to be working this season.
