Being a makeup artist myself I am always trying to improve, see what the trends are and just basically fawn over the rock star makeup artists out there. The talent that is out there is absolutely amazing and sometimes I am just blown away by the images I see. I have been doing loads of research since back from my holiday and trying to get inspired for beauty shoots I am planning as well and makeup tutorials I want to do. The makeup artists I follow are a mixture of flawless perfection and a bit out there crazy avant guard makeup. So here is my list of makeup artists you need to know about if you don't already.
Colour eyeliner is on trend in a big way and if you don't have one in your makeup stash then you need to be getting your hands on one ASAP. I personally love the blue and green liners as they are definitely the most wearable but a purple on a darker skin tone can look pretty amazing too. At the beginning of the week I posted my Elle beauty primary colours editorial where even yellow is in but to make the colour look wearable and not too out there a liner is one of the easiest ways to do it.
I test out so many brands and products all the time whether its on myself or on models when I am on a shoot. Some I love but still move on to try other products but some I have to go out and buy for myself for my personal stash. There were to makeup products that I have loved for myself and needed to repurchase on my trip overseas the Chanel Les Beiges Foundation and the Benefit Boo-ing Concealer.
Being on holiday has literally been the worst thing for me food wise so I took it upon myself to research companies to see what was out there in terms of healthy food options that could be delivered to my door and help me lose some weight. With my job and being a mum of two its hard for me to pre prepare healthy food so I find myself reaching for unhealthy options especially on shoots and am pulling my hair out because I can't lose weight. Daily Dietician based in both Cape Town and Joburg offers a lifestyle healthy eating option, pro athlete option, a low carb and high fat option as well as an option for pregnancy and kids. Its a company that seems to have a great reputation after asking around so I decided to go ahead and start my 20 day challenge today.
This coming season is all about primary bold colours to take your makeup to the next level. in this shoot I did for Elle magazine SA beauty editorial it was all about ways to wear colours to make a dramatic statement and be bang on trend.
Luckily I got my hands on this gorgeous Naked Flushed palette from Urban Decay just before shooting my editorial for Elle Magazine SA last month. The PR ladies kindly sent some goodies for me to use on the shoot and put to the test. As you can see the gorgeous model looked amazing and I have to say I absolutely love the palette. The flushed palette is a 3-in-1 that you can just pop in your bag and work your cheeks contouring and shimmer all at the same time.
Its finally here the first store of Urban Decay in South Africa. Sadly I couldn't make the press trip as I am overseas but I wanted to share with my readers the new gorgeous store in Joburg in Sandton City. My fellow bloggers luckily got to get a sneaky look before the store opened on 9th July and I can't wait to get myself there when I am next in the city. What I am so happy about is every product available overseas (apart from the Gwen Stephani palette)is in this store unlike some of the other brands if you want something you can get your hands on it.
Since its been a while since I did a makeup tutorial and I am overseas I wanted to share some makeup tutorials from some of my favourite celebrity makeup artists that I have been busy watching and catching up when I have time to myself before my kids wake up. So here are the video's that I wanted to share and hope you enjoy them as much as I do:
Its aleauys nice to be asked about being a makeup artist and getting some recognition for your work. I was recently asked by Aqueelah who now only has her own blog Fashion Breed but also writes for the beauty section of A Fashion Friend which is an online source of fashion and trends in South Africa as well as shoot amazing fashion editorials I wass more than happy to answer some beauty questions for their readers. There are always certain items that I pack in my holiday makeup kit to enhance the tan or for a night out. Bold lips are always a must for me because they look even better with a tan and really pops making you look so healthy and fresh. My favourite combination is bronze eyes and a bright lip its a perfect way to combine an eye with a lip without taking away from the lips.
