My latest editorial with Marie Claire is all about taking the Tuxedo and breaking it down. Its all about how to wear the fabric of the season and mixing pieces to fancy up your work wear. I kept makeup really simple to match the structured pieces of the clothes. The models eyes were contoured with a beautiful shimmer on the lids, brows were bold and skin dewy. You can add a lip as it would work perfectly with the strong pieces but for this shoot we kept it nude so it was more feminine.
My new favourite liner the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Liner its literally the bomb. I have never been a massive fan of liquid liners. Usually they run and just get a bit messy especially if I am trying to apply on myself. This liner is a long wearing liner that lasts the distance even in extreme heat. I put the liner to the test on the weekend for the We Love Summer Party and it was still on at the end of the night. Happy Days.
This cute makeup bag plus 3 gorgous goodies from Elizabeth Arden landed on my desk last week. At first I thought it was a delayed Christmas gift but then I soon found out it was an Elizabeth Arden/Sparrow Society Collaboration. Once you have read this post you are definitely going to be hitting the stores to get busy shopping. I am a massive fan of the brand but I am even more so now. Why I hear you say? Because Elizabeth Arden have partnered with one of their Make A Visible Difference partners the Sparrow Society. The non profit organisation empowers women from certain townships to be creative through design.
After sharing how much I love my Morphe palettes I decided to shoot a tutorial featuring one of them. This video is a bold purple eye makeup tutorial using the palette 35P. I saw a look on instagram a week or so ago with a similar shade so thought why not. Its perfect for a party look, a festival or even a night out on the town. The purples totally compliment my brown eyes if I must say so myself.
I finally got to sit down over the weekend and film my best of beauty for 2016. It was a great year for discovering new skincare and makeup and I am sure I missed out on a whole load that I love but then the video would be endless and really I didn't want to bore you. I cover all things makeup and skincare from high end to budget so there is something here for everyone.
Starting the New Year I shared my New Years resolutions and it got me to thinking about my beauty resolutions for 2017. I really am big on skincare but even I can slack or even fall asleep with my makeup on!!!! As turning 41 is fast approaching and I really am not getting any younger taking care of my skin really has to be a top prority this year. Of course there is the obvious like drink more water and get more sleep. I definitely need to keep the late nights to a minimum and stop thing that I am 21 again. We always promise ourselves to do certain things each year but this is one thing I can definitely keep up thoughout the year.
Introducing L.O.V makeup the sleeker relation to Essence. Its still in the budget region but its a more superior makeup brand with sexy packaging. A few items landed on my desk last month for me to test out and share my thoughts and so far I am quite impressed. L.O.V offers quite a big makeup selection from eyeshadows, lipsticks, foundations and a contour kit. Sadly there are no dark foundations or concealers in the collection. Their eye and brow selection is pretty impressive with a whole range of shadows and mascara's plus a couple brow kits and even an eye primer.
Great new people for those of us who aren't based in Joburg the whole Urban Decay range is now available on Foschiniforbeauty.co.za!!! We saw the first store open last year and then a second in Joburg but that's no good for the rest of us in South Africa who want to get our hands on the brand. Foschini launched its beauty store last year and I have been patiently waiting for the brand to become available. Sadly there is still no news of a store in Cape Town but am just so happy that we can now buy online. Happy Days.
On the weekend I attended the lovely event that is the Queens Plate. The theme is always blue and white so I decided to match my makeup to my dress this year. Rather than do a normal tutorial this video is kind of like a get ready with me. I already styled my hair with a textured up do and in the video I do a simple look that really compliments my H&M dress. I decided to do a voice over and try something new as its just easier to get on with applying makeup.
Last year I chatted about all the overseas brands now available in SA and more have hit SA shores with the new online store eyeseehuemakeup.com. I was lucky to get a few beauty items sent my way to test out and review from the PR team. The site features gorgeous brands like Too Faced, Eyeko, Sephora and Lipstick Queen. I got to play around with the beautiful Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette so I consider myself to be pretty lucky.
