Since I started working with Tegan Smith on shooting for my blog I have slowly started dressing my vanity table to make it look pretty for pics. In this post I wanted to share how to affordably style your vanity table with MRP and H&M. These brands make it super easy to add pretty pieces to your vanity table. MRP is amazing for all the fake plants, candles and inspirational pictures. H&M is great for jewellerey boxes, picture frames and cute pieces like my pineapple that I keep some of my bracelets in.
This is one of my new favourite palettes the Too Faced Just Peachy Matte Palette with all the pretty colours that can be worn all year round. I first got to test this bad boy at one my best friends wedding the lovely Kate and actually on myself. I love the peach and tan tones they add that extra brightness to the eyes thats just really pretty. You can go really bold with Peach Sangria or just keep it soft with shades like just peachy and peach tea. The choice is yours.
How many nude lipsticks can one have in their makeup stash? A nude is a must have for any girl whether its a natural day time look or paired with a smokey eye. I have some newbies in my pro kit that I find I just keep reaching for. My go to nude lipsticks at the moment are super affordable and are just really pretty. I love how easy they are to apply so when I am doing touch ups on set they just glide on. Sadly you can't get KIKO in Cape Town yet so let's hope that changes soon.
Now I am not going to lie doing a detox isn't easy. Its my third time doing the Forever Living C9 Detox and I thought well I know the drill it will be easier. Its not!! I think detoxing during winter is probably what has been most difficult so I have had to dig deep but I know it really worth the results. Each time I do the detox I lose 2.5/3kg's its a great way to kick start my body and get me back to eating healthy again.
I've gotten to that age now (42) that my skin has changed and its not so combination like I used to be with oily areas. Its more dehydrated at times with pigmentation. Plus now I am looking for skincare to help with anti ageing as well as protect my skin at the same time. Introducing the gorgeous organic Probiotic Esse Protect Oil that's actually local. South African skincare is actually truly impressive and this little bottle of oil has become my new best friend. I even got a "your skin looks amazing what are you using"yesterday so the oil is definitely working a treat.
When it comes to a simple makeup look here are my makeup essentials for dark skintones. For me its all about amazing skin with a beautiful highlight and a pretty eye. Once you have good skin everything else falls into place. Of course make sure skin has been prepped I like to use primers like the Ren Perfect Canvas or the Mac Prep and Prime Radiance Natural Radiance. Keep makeup simple and invest in a good foundation and concealer. For me with dark skintones concealer is everything as it helps correct skin, brighten up under the eyes and just give that flawless finish.
Another winner the Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum that brightens and firms the skin. I have been busy testing this serum for the last three weeks and already I feel a difference. Vitamin C has been used in skincare for as long as I can remembe. However, Dermalogica have embraced new technology that finally harnesses the full power of Vitamin C. This serum enhances the skin's natural defence system to stop the damage even before it starts.
I got to test out the latest Avon True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation that really is a great
For me who came from London to live in South Africa 10 years ago the online beauty shopping in SA was non existent. Cool fashion and makeup brands were no where in sight. Beauty shopping online don't even get me started. Its still light years away from the States and Europe but I finally feel we are actually getting somwhere here. There has always been the usual suspects like Mac and Bobbi Brown and your usual drugstore brands like Max Factor and Revlon. Finally we have some clever women that have taken it upon themselves to set up beauty websites that are actually offering cool makeup and skincare brands. I finally feel I don't have to panic so much and wait for a trip overseas or beg my friends to bring me goodies.
