Yesterday I joined the Mac pro tewam to do makeup at the Mercedes Benz Fashion week. As a Mac Top Tier member we got invited to join the team and make some magic happen. It was my first time at a show so I was pretty nervous but being surrounded by such amazing makeup artists I handled it really well. I got to play with new Mac products like the Extra Dimension highlighter in show gold and the Diane Kendal black kajal liner. In love with both. I also learnt how its really done backstage for the amazing skin and lots of new tricks which was really fun.
I did makeup for 4 out of 5 of the shows Gavin Rajah, Habits, Stefania Moreland and Mille Collines. The Gavin Rajah show was definitely the most dramatic with lots of glitter of all shades under each models eyes with lashes and liner. Skin was kept fresh throughout each show with minimal makeup and some great skincare. If you haven’t tried the Charged Water its a great mist to prep skin and up the hydration. For the next step you can either take the Mineral Charged Water face and body lotion or the Prep and Prime radiance or both if you really need that extra love. For the eyes the Fast Response Eye cream it blends in beautifully and totally hydrates the under eye area.
The Warm Neutrals palette was another key item or the Habits and Stefania Moreland show its a great one to have in your kit or in your personal stash as its great for day to night. For the Habits show (look above) we worked the saddle, dark brew and dance in the dark to create the gorgeous smokey eye, fascinating in the waterline and the no 7 lashes to create that doll effect.
The Stefania Moreland look above backstage and then the model on the catwalk last night. The eyes had 3 pigments with rose gold, gold and silver to make the eyes really pop and compliment the clothes.
For each show Raine Tauber the Senior pro makeup artist for South Africa created the looks and then two of the mac artists from the events team demonstrated how to create each each look before our crazy day started.
