Renewing my wedding vows has to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Getting married to my husband the first time was beautiful but my renewal surpassed my expectations. It was a day filled with so much love and laughter and having my children with me was so special. I will be sharing the real pics when I get them next month but here is some fun and beautiful behind the scenes pictures of the day. Sadly it rained and we couldn’t get married outside but it actually made it more special in the end. If you are thinking of renewing your vows then 100% yes if you are in doubt.
Firstly you can pretty much do what you want I decided to basically have a second wedding and get a bridal dress made by the amazing Elbeth Gillis. I am a lover of lace so opted for a gorgeous fitted dress with lace sleeves and a plunging neckline. I wanted a modern up do so my amazing hairstylist friend Alet created a messy bun that looked amazing. For the makeup I wanted glowing skin with a feline flick on the eye and lots of mascara finished off with a nude lip and thanks to Cape Town makeup artist Sjani I got just that. I wanted the focus to be on the dress and keep the makeup simple as well as my jewellery a simple necklace and diamond studs.
I went all out with my bridesmaids my crazy best mates and since the flowers of the tables were pink I let the girls get their own dresses to the shades and styles they wanted. They had bright pink lips and a subtle eye with a tousled wave in the hair. We played a modern song for the aisle and the girls danced down to set the mood for the day. The most amazing thing was having my beautiful children part of the day and walking down the aisle with my daughter.
The photobooth was definitely the highlight of the night with the funniest pictures. If you are thinking of getting married or renewing your vows the photobooth is one of the best ideas because its a great way to capture the spirit of the night especially when the alcohol has been flowing. We used the picture booth and got to use some props to make the pictures even funnier. There was no cake or first dance but I did get up and make a speech which normally I hate public speaking but this time after the most magical of days it was so easy. Plus my mate captured me and my husband in a kiss which I will forever treasure. There was so much love and I really consider myself to be so lucky.
Will be posting the formal pics at the end of March to share with my readers so watch this space.
