Its finally here the first store of Urban Decay in South Africa. Sadly I couldn’t make the press trip as I am overseas but I wanted to share with my readers the new gorgeous store in Joburg in Sandton City. My fellow bloggers luckily got to get a sneaky look before the store opened on 9th July and I can’t wait to get myself there when I am next in the city. What I am so happy about is every product available overseas (apart from the Gwen Stephani palette)is in this store unlike some of the other brands if you want something you can get your hands on it.
So here are the official pics from my wedding renwal back in March sot by a friend and great photographer Jacobus Snyman. He captured everything so beautifully and I have memories here that I will cherish forever. Not everyone renews their vows but what I can say is that it was the most incredible experience of my life (apart from marrying Rob the first time and having my kids). I wanted to share with you the pics of the day with my beautiful family and my amazing friends. It was emotional, beautiful and so much fun. If its something you are considering doing then do it. Having my kids with me made it so much more special and being able to marry the love of my life again was truly amazing. I cried pretty much all through the ceremony as this time we wrote our own vows and made it so much more personal.
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend a beautiful event hosted and put together by ex Elle magazine editor Jackie Burger. Jackie created Salon 58 after leaving the magazine industry to create an environment where women can come together either as a group or individually to learn how to work with skincare, makeup and styling themselves. Believe it or not a lot of women struggle with makeup application and what skincare to use and what works best it can be really confusing.
One of my favourite brands Lancome celebrates 80 years this year, its a brand that is linked with amazing and beautiful role models to help represent what Lancome is all about. Even more exciting is that one of my idol makeup artists Lisa Eldridge is now the new creative director. The brand is all about impeccable French style and a celebration of femininity with countless innovative skincare products, beautiful fragrances and amazing makeup products.
I was asked the other day what my New Year resolutions would be and to be honest at the point I hadn’t really thought about it but since thinking about it I have made a list of how I want to improve my life, my work and my blog. So here it is with some new additions that will be happening to Shahnaz Loves Beauty:
Its the festive season Christmas Eve is finally here and its going to be lots of parties starting from tonight. So I thought why not go for a shimmery christmas party nail that has a little Christmas feel to it. Normally I don’t get 5 minutes to paint my nails but since I am officially on holiday I thought I would have a little pamper me time and and share the look with you.
Its been almost two years since I started shahnazlvesbeauty which I can’t quite believe and I have to say I have loved every minute of it. When I started out I didn’t have a clue what I was doing let alone take a decent pic which I used my iphone by the way and photoshop well don’t even go there. I thought I would write a post to share with my readers on some beauty blogging tips that have really helped me.
Since I have a crazy week ahead of me planning is essential and of course catching up on a liitle bit of beauty. If you are a blogger as well as having another job planning is always key. I like to be able to post as much as possible and squeeze it in somehow. I am forever writing lists to make sure I am on top of things.
Since I am shooting pretty much the whole week I have given myself a little guidance on what to write but sometimes it changes and I always get more inspired when I am on a shoot. Being a makeup artist means a lot of organising and making sure my kit is prepped and ready to go and brushes are clean.
I also need a little downtime that doesn’t involve my kids so catching up on beauty is always on my list for Sunday mornings. A little bit of Grazia keeps me in the loop on what’s happening and what great products there are out there that I haven’t tried yet.
IMATS, Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks and Bumble and Bumble
Its been a great week in London and sadly its over in a flash but I am off to France today for a proper family holiday. This week has been all about beauty so here it is:
1) I finally got to go to London IMATS which is one of the big makeup shows that comes to London once a year, here you can get discounts on so many amazing brands and yes I got to go. I got my hands on some of the Wayne Goss brushes and I have to say I am very impressed with them so far. Oh yes I also got into the Bobbi Brown Pro Artist program so happy dicounts for me.
2) If you follow Charlotte Tilbury you will know the new Beach Sticks are out, I got a demonstration yesterday in Selfridges and purchased myself the Ibiza shade its a beautiful bronze perfect for contouring and adding a healthy glow. Will post next week on how to use.
3) I love the getthegloss.com post for the SS14 trends and what products to use and for which occasion the look would work best for. So if you want to be on trend and work a gorgeous look then check out the post.
4) Bumble and Bumble are pretty much my favourite hair products at the moment because they do what they say. My latest addition is the Straight Blow Dry Cream apply to damp hair and blow dry and you left with beautiful smooth locks.
5) Lastly my latest addition to my makeup collection purchased at IMATS for an unbelivable price, the matt lip pencil. I am totally in love with the shade Cruella a beautiful deep red.
Hope you had an amazing week.
I get lots of amazing products to test out plus I am always buying new things to try out too, yes I am a beauty addict of note. But I tell myself I am a makeup artist so I need it. Each Friday I hope to post what’s in my makeup bag for the week and what I am loving. I am always on the go so I always need my makeup bag handy and to be able to do some touch ups while I am out and about or add something extra.
Stila Stay All Day Foundation: I recently blogged about this foundation and its just stayed in my makeup bag ever since. I normally use different ones but I am really loving the foundation. It leaves my skin so smooth and there is no shiney finish so it lasts longer. My skin looks absolutely flawless so its a keeper.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Fluid: I have been using this fluid either on its own or as a base for my foundation, it leaves my skin feeling amazing and so healthy. I keep this in my bag for later on in the day so rather than apply more foundation I just add some of the fluid to inject some hydration into my skin and have a beautiful glowing finish.
Smashbox Lipgloss: Loving the latest Smashbox lipgloss additions. There are quite a few shades but I am loving the pink shade as it brightens up my face if I am looking a little tired. I believe a bright lip wakens up the face and takes away the appearnce of looking tired. The gloss applies really easily and is beautifully pigmented.
Maybelline Baby Lips: The baby lips are here to stay in SA so very happy about that they come in a few shades but I like the natural one as I can also use to highlight my cheekbones or my eyelids to give that gloss effect.
Maybelline Master Smokey: I am a big Maybelline fan as you can tell, this latest Master Smokey pencil makes my life so my easier. I apply the liner to my top lash line and can either just have a liner on my top lids or the other side of the pen I take the eye smudger and blend in the pencil to create a smokey eye in a minute. Yes please life made easy.
Maybelline The Colossal Extreme Volume (launches June): Maybelline Mascara’s are one of my favourite of the drugstore brands. The latest addition to their mascara family is the Go Extreme Volume, well it does what is says it gives me extra length and boy do I need it. The applicator has a double pump wand which coats those lashes and gives more volume and what looks like some extra length.
Revlon Classy Coral Blush: I love a fresh face look and for me I literally have 5 minutes to do my makeup and bronzer and blush are key to completing the look. This is the first time I have used a Revlon blush but I love it. I have been using it on myself and on my Fairlady Magazine bridal shoot this week to give that beautiful rosy flush to the cheeks.
