This week has all about learning all the ways to braid because I was pretty bad at it. There are literally so many different styles, tricks and I came to Lonfon to the London Hair Academy to get brushed up on my skills so I can wow my clients when I get bcak to Cape Town. I learnt how to French Braid and Dutch Braid properly and learnt some amazing new party tricks that are so simple and easy to do. I wanted to show some videos in the post ond how to braid and hope to get you all inspired for the weekend.

If you haven’t heard of Evo hair products then you are seriously missing out. I was lucky enough to meet with Ashleigh that represents the brand in SA and get my hands on some amazing hair styling products. Evo is an Australian hair brand that really is amazing. All the products I got to test out worked a treat making the whole hair styling process so much easier. I totally love the packaging and can’t wait to get my hands on some more of the range.

At the end of last year I got to work with this phenomenal model Christine who has shot Calvin Klein underwear, Zara and Mango. Over the 5 days we shot 5 different editorials in such great locations for the UK brand Elvi. This shoot was definitely my favourite as I love the cactus farm location and the clothes for the day. Hair was textured with a beautiful beachy wave and makeup bronzed with a peach flush on the cheeks.

In the latest issue of Edgars Club magazine features my hair and makeup work for a sports inspired fashion editorial. Its all about how to work the trend whether you want to dress it up a bit or keep it casual. Investing in a cool pair of trainers that makes your outfit pop is definitely a key trend here. Braids or sleek ponies is definitely how your hair should be with gorgeous glowing skin.

Most of the time I focus on the makeup trends from the shows but I loved the hair so much from LFW that I wanted to share. This post focuses purely on my fav hairstyles for LFW AW17 and as you can see they are pretty cool. We definitely need to be thinking about adding ribbons or embellishments to our hair if we want to get with the trends. Its all about different textures and styles that are easy to recreate at home.

We are right in bridal season because of the amazing weather and beautiful locations that South Africa has to offer. I did a beautiful bridal shoot with Elbeth Gillis last year for her new collection showcasing her two different ranges. Bridal doesn’t have to be cheesy with horrible puff ball dresses and hair that came out of the 80’s. It can be cool and modern or just really classic but the hair really makes everything come together.I wanted to share the shoot that I did to give some bridal hair inspiration.

The TRESemme Beauty Full Volume Reverse System landed on my desk a while ago and I have been busy testing to see how my hair responds to the products. Its the first time I have tried a system where I condition my hair before I shampoo. I was a bit sceptical at first but I found my hair to feel a lot lighter. The Reverse system is all about full volume hair that has amazing bounce so when it comes to styling its a piece of cake.

Spring is almost upon us in SA and its time to start looking at the trends for the upcoming season and take note. If you are looking for easy ways to work the trends with your hair and change your look up a little then here is some inspiration taken from the SS16 shows. Top knots, textured hair and plaits are definitely in plus some embellishments thrown in. So here is a low down of my favourite hair trends for SS16:

Last week I somehow forgot to pack my hair tong for a shoot luckily I had enough time to get myself to the nearest Clicks to buy one and still get to my shoot. Staring at me from all the hair tongs was the new Vidal Sasson easy wrap tong that looked like it would do the trick. I am always on the look out for a tong that will give ntaural looking hair and creates a subtle wave. Its unlike any other tong that I have seen as it has a daiamond cermaic wand which makes it so easy to use. There is a on/off switch button so its on it gets hot and you are good to go.
