Finally one of my favourite skincare brands has launched their first foundation. Introducing the Filorga Flash Fluid Foundation or known as the Pro Perfection tinted fluid. This foundation promises that flawless bare skin effect which as you can see gives just that. I have been waiting to test the fluid on a model as its way too light for me. Model and instagram queen Jessica Yang was the pertect candidate to test the makeup on. Sadly the Filorga Flash Fluid doesn’t come in darker shades so for now its for the fairer skin gals.
I have been waiting for Glossier to finally hit SA and ladies you can now get your hands on the Glossier Cloud Paint!!! I spend time each day researching on Instagram and came across an account called The Beauty Co. I am happy to announce that they are not too pricey at R250 each and trust me a little goes a long way. I made the initial mistake of squeezing a little too much out. I purchased 2 of the shades and the delivery was super efficient and quick. If you love a cream blush then these are definetly worth checking out.
If you haven’t gotten your hands on one of the The Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows you are missing out. I am truly impressed by how Stila have upped their game with the makeup they have introduced and these well they are just simply gorgeous. They can be worn three ways either apply as a liner, up the crease of the eye or winged out. I also like to use them over a powder eyeshadow using my fingers to add a little sparkle to an eye.
This is the first time I have actually bought or used anything from the brand Colourpop. I actually saw a beauty shot on instagram crediting the brand and the palette so of course I had to buy it. Introducing the Colourpop Yes Please Palette its bold and beautiful. Its perfect for warming up the complexion with its red and orange undertone shades. Plus some gold and yellow thrown in too. To really smoke it up work in French Kiss a brown shade that adds a gorgeous definition to the outer corners of the eyes. Really affordable at R490 for 12 beautiful shades am very happy with my latest purchase.
When it comes to highlighters Mac has it down to a T. In this post I am chatting about how to get that glow with Mac Cosmetics using 2 products. By combining both you can get that lit from within glow that makes you just look super healthy and gorgeous. I have kept makeup super minimal here as I just want to emphasise the skin. Plus just keep it really simple. So which 2 products am I chatting about? The Hyper Real Foundation and the Iridescent Loose Powder. Luckily there are a few shades to choose from if you are light to medium/dark skin tone then keep reading.
If you don’t know about Swiitch Beauty then you definitely need to be checking them out. Its a South African beauty shop providing affordable quality makeup. The Swiitch Beauty Slays for Days Palette landed on my desk last week to play around with and give one away. Its definitely got similarities to the Morphe Palettes 35OM and 35. However this palette combines matt and shimmer in one. Its a proudly South African palette with each shade named after a South African girl. Its crazy affordable retailing at R350 which actually goes to show how expensive overseas brands are.
This is one of my new favourite palettes the Too Faced Just Peachy Matte Palette with all the pretty colours that can be worn all year round. I first got to test this bad boy at one my best friends wedding the lovely Kate and actually on myself. I love the peach and tan tones they add that extra brightness to the eyes thats just really pretty. You can go really bold with Peach Sangria or just keep it soft with shades like just peachy and peach tea. The choice is yours.
How many nude lipsticks can one have in their makeup stash? A nude is a must have for any girl whether its a natural day time look or paired with a smokey eye. I have some newbies in my pro kit that I find I just keep reaching for. My go to nude lipsticks at the moment are super affordable and are just really pretty. I love how easy they are to apply so when I am doing touch ups on set they just glide on. Sadly you can’t get KIKO in Cape Town yet so let’s hope that changes soon.
When it comes to a simple makeup look here are my makeup essentials for dark skintones. For me its all about amazing skin with a beautiful highlight and a pretty eye. Once you have good skin everything else falls into place. Of course make sure skin has been prepped I like to use primers like the Ren Perfect Canvas or the Mac Prep and Prime Radiance Natural Radiance. Keep makeup simple and invest in a good foundation and concealer. For me with dark skintones concealer is everything as it helps correct skin, brighten up under the eyes and just give that flawless finish.
I got to test out the latest Avon True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation that really is a great foundation that does everything it promises. Firstly I love the price its truly affordable at R154.90 and it really does give you a flawless finish totally evening out my skintone. Its got a matt finish with full coverage. So for those of you who struggle with oily skin or need that extra coverage this is definitely for you.
Now I normally like the more sheer to medium coverage foundations that give a dewy glow. However, this full coverage foundation really impressed me. Its not heavy at all and my skin can really breath with this one. I was truly amazed with how my skin looked. The Avon True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation Flawless Liquid Foundation has got an Invisiblend technology that uses the skin matching pigments that soften light from every angle, that gives you coverage but without it looking like you have heavy makeup on.
Now when it comes to applying I personally always use my fingers at home especially when I am in a rush. If I want to build coverage then I normally use my foundation brush. What goes perfectly with the foundation is the Avon True Bronzing Pearls (R119.90) they really are magic when it comes to warming up your skin giving that sun kissed look. The foundation really lasts well throughout the day and I didn’t even need to use setting powder. I think if you are on the more oily side then make sure you set your foundation.
The foundation has an SPF of 15 so it also protects you from ther harmful UV rays but remember you still need to apply a higher factor suncreen underneath especially in hot weather. The foundation is hydrating and leaves a subtle glow that looks really natural. Plus it just doesn’t look heavy at all and doesn’t clog those pores.
Now I struggle from pigmentation and sun spots and this bad boy totally evened out my skin. Plus I really didn’t apply that much just a couple of pumps. I have combination skin and this foundation totally worked for me. I applied more where my skin is a little oiler and less on my forehead and chin. The foundation was lighter than my current skintone but the bronzing pearls totally sorted that out.
Its the perfect foundation for most skin types as well as those who have sensitive skin which is what I also struggle with. The foundation pretty much covered everything and I didn’t need to use much concealer like I have to with some foundations. I love that it is a pump foundation so no wasteage and so easy to use. There are quite a few shades from pale to dark skin tones so there is pretty much a shade for everyone. Definitely a foundation worth checking out and won’t break the bank.
Now as you know you can’t buy Avon in the shops they have an online store and you can meet with representative. I think when it comes to choosing the right shade you need to test out a few shades to make sure you get the right shade for you. Remember it needs to match your neck and chest.
