Spring Nails

Spring is in the air in Cape Town loving this sunshine so with that in mind its time to rummage through your nail collection or get yourself to the shops and get yourself some fun bright colours. Personally there is no easier way then getting into the new season that candy colured nails.

If you are more of a neutral nail polish kind of girl an easy way to wear a little candy on your nails is on your toes to make sure they look oh so pretty.

Spring Nails 1

If you aren’t aware of Toy Nail polish then you better get a look at their shades I love the Lilac Lila, its such a pretty colour and its bang on trend. This shade is definitely one of my favs out of the 5.

Next on the list is Rimmel 60 Seconds Intense Coral, if you can’t quite go too bright this shade is a perfect shade to rock Spring time. Its pretty on pretty much all skin tones and yes even if you haven’t got a tan. It glides on easily and dries super quick.

Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy polishes are pretty new to the market in SA and have some really pretty colours, I love the Lady Luck Candy Pink Shade and makes my nails look so very pretty.

Part of my recent UK Haul involved a little bit of Kiko shopping I couldn’t resist this bold orange shade 491. I absolutely love this colour and would say its my fav of all the shades purely because I love bold bright colours and orange just looks amazing when you got a bit of a tan.

Lastly its back to toy with Azul Claro a beautiful pastel blue that has a matt finish. This one would be  a more of a wear it on my toes kind of shade but I still love it anyway.

Happy Spring.

Ibiza EditJust a quick post before I go let my hair down in Ibiza. I thought why not share what will be some key items in my beauty bag that will definitely be essentials to make me look pretty and protect my skin. So here is my Ibiza Beauty Edit:

Protecting skin against the rays is the no 1 most impostant thing if you are going to take anything in your beauty bag sun screen is a must. Loving my Vichy Capital Soleil as its easy to apply and I don’t burn with this baby.

During the day I won’t really be wearing too much makeup and foundation is definitely out so to keep skin looking glowing and fresh I am taking my Kiko Glowing Game Global Perfecting Primer which gives subtle shimmer to my skin. As I am going to be constantly on the go, the perfect little makeup compact where I don’t need any brushes is my new Charlotte Tilbury Breakfast At Tiffany’s Cream Shadow and Cheek and Lips. So I literally apply some beautiful bronze shimmer to my eyes and the pretty pink to lips and cheeks and voila ready to go.

Matt lips are always better for me when I am out and about because I find the lippie lasts longer so introducing the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick which lasts for hours and feels amazing on the lips. This shade is Matte Magenta a beautiful bright pink that looks amazing with a tan.

The legs and arms needs to look shimmery and beautiful so I am going to achieve this with Charlotte Tilbury’s Super Model Body, Slimmer Shimmer, Shape Hydrate and Glow. Doesn’t that sound amazing? It’s so easy to apply with a metal roller applicator and I am good to go.

Nails need to be painted a summer shade so I am taking with me the Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy in Lady Luck its a gorgeous shade of pink.

I know sunglasses aren’t technically a beauty item but they will protect my eyes against the rays and I will be rockin the party with these cool Rayban glasses. I am seriously in love with these.

Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Polish

Getting Ready for Spring with Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Polish

Spring is just around the corner is Cape Town and what better way to feel like Spring is in the air by painting your nails a pretty colour. Introducing the Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Polish offering pretty spring colours without breaking the bank.

I got my hands on this pretty baby blue shade Adore Bleu and first tested out on set for the Jay Jay Summer Campaign because its such a fresh young colour. It may not be a shade you would wear if you work in the corporate world but its a cool fresh colour.

Bourjois promise that the polish has a shiny and glossy finish lasting up to 10 days. I can’t say I have tested for that long as I just wanted to try out the texture and application on myself and on my shoot we only used for the day. The formula is enriched with twice as much vinyl and a complex of highly reflective resins for ultra shiny nails with a long lasting hold. The fixing agent in the polish helps keep nails supple and highly resistant.

What I love about the polishes is that they won’t harm you in any way as they are formulated without using any harmful agents like formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, acetone or phthalates. When applying you only need one coat and it doesn’t streak and the brush makes it very easy to apply.

The finish is definitely shiny before using a top coat but remember use the top coat and a base coat to make sure you get the most out of the polish .

Bourjois Blue Nails

bourjoissolaque

There are 7 shades of the Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Polish of which I can’t wait to try. The colours are definitely on trend with pastel and nude shades being big for spring/summer 14. With a retail price of R95.95 at selected Clicks stores, this polish won’t break the bank and you can buy a few shades to keep nails pretty all summer long.

Bobbi Brown in Navy Nail Polish

Mani Monday: Bobbi Brown in Navy Nail Polish

If I can I love to share the latest shades or trends every Monday and this week its the Bobbi Brown in Navy nail polish. At the recent Bobbi Brown launch we got to see all the new products that are hitting counters and the 10 summer shade collection is at stores now.

Even though its a Summer collection some of the shades are quite dark of course there are the pretty pinks and reds but its a collection that is more shades you can always wear rather than just being on trend for one season.

What I love about the Navy polish is that with one coat you have no streaks and you don’t need a second application as the shade is highly pigmented which means your polish will last longer. Remember to keep your polish on for as long as possible then use a bottom and top coat.

Bobbi Navy

The polishes retail at R165 and yes its quite high but its in the middle range of polish prices with brands like CND Vinylux at R145 and Essie at R110 plus its Bobbi Brown right so its worth spending a little more cash sometimes.

Here are the rest of the shades:

I have yet to find an exact matching shade at a cheaper price but will keep you all posted.

Sunday morning pamper

Sundays seem to be a morning when I can get a little me time and a pamper. The Sunday Morning Pamper changes every so often when I find new products or get sent new products to try out. So this morning my pamper is all about catching up on the gossip and makeup trends and basically feel like I am at the spa.

When I am going for a full pamper I go the extra mile with my hair so a hair mask is always in order to give me locks some love and a boost of moisture. My current fav is the Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Q10 Time Restore Treatment, so whether I am taking an extra long shower or a bath its my way to treat my hair as I blow dry and damage my hair every week. Its a treatment that helps boost the hair’s natural keratin synthesis, which sounds pretty good right and after use my hair feels like silk.

A body scrub is a must for my pamper, somehow it just makes your skin feel amazing and just feel better afterwards. I went on a Body Shop Sale Haul and the Coconut Body Scrub came home with me, it smells of summer so what better way to start your Sunday smelling amazing with unbelievable soft skin!

I have got so many face masks I am starting to lose count, a face mask is one of those items that has become a key staple in my beauty routine and what I love to do on a Sunday morning after my shower. I always feel I need extra hydration and I swap the masks all the time depending on what I need. I am trying the Elements 03 Hydrating Therapy Mask so that’s what I am doing today giving my skin a hydration boost. Its a deep moisturising mask with Hyaluronic Acid and Filagrinol which helps restore the skin. Fresh skin on a Sunday morning especially if you have had a late one is the only way to go.

Painting nails is definitely a pamper and its something I don’t get a chance to do myself very often. Again I have polish coming out of my ears firstly because I need every colour for my makeup artist kit and I also get sent a lot to play with. I love the new L’oreal Infallible Nails as they come with the polish on one side and the top coat on the other side so this morning I am going for a nude shade the Forever Minx shade. I will do a full post on these beauties next week so watch this space.

Sunday morning pamper 1

sunday morning pamper 2

I love my Grazia and I buy it every Friday without fail and Sunday’s is when I normally get to put my feet up and have a read. Its my way of catching up on the gossip and beauty trends and see if there are any products I have missed out on.

What’s you Sunday morning pamper routine?

Chanel aw14 nails 1

Chanel AW14 Nails 2

The polish glides on beautifully with two coats its a deep dark gun metal grey. The collection launches on the 18th August in SA and this polish will be retailing at R355, its definitely a pricier polish but its Chanel so its worth it right?

Its a shade that you can wear with any outfit day or night and just makes everything seem so much more sophisticated. Love it.

Happy Monday

July Essentials

Its that time of the month again when I share with you some of my favourite products that I have been using, loving and just need share with you. So here it is:

Since back from holiday I have been using the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation its got that right kind of dewiness for the skin without looking too shiny and just matches my skin perfectly and evens out where I need it. Its a great budget foundation but really is just as good as some of the higher end foundations out there. Its all about getting my glow on.

The perfect way to set my foundation and the rest of my makeup is my latest addition to my stash is the Urban Decay All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray. Got this bad boy on my recent trip to London and its now got a firm place in my bathroom. What can I say its an essential for me when going out and even in the day so set my makeup, keep it fresh and keep it on for hours.

Ren is by far one of my favourite skincare brands and this month I have been loving the latest to the Ren Rosa Centifolia family the Express Make-Up Remover. Its so gentle on the skin and is a cream so not only does it get all the makeup off it also leaves skin super hydrated afterwards. The big plus is it also works on waterproof mascara so no more furiuosly rubbing eyes to get that mascara on that is lodged onto the lashes and refusing to come off.

Body creams play a massive role in my life for myself personally and for work. I ussually go for brands like Nivea or Dove as they work for my dry skin but the Mio The A Cream has got its self to the top of the list these past 2 weeks. LOVE LOVE LOVE. You can apply to damp skin so that it seals in the moisture and leaves my sin feeling amazingly soft but its also enriched with Organic Shea Butter, Organic Avocado Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Organic Sweet Almond Oil and Blueberry Seed Oil so its packed with all the goodness.

I am totally obsessed with bright lips at the moment and have been rotating a few for different occasions. its one of those things that no matter how tired you look it just brightens up your whole face and gives it that extra glow. This month I want to pay hommage to the Revlon Super Lustrious Lipstick in Orange Flip (923) its a bright orange with a hint of redness so it can almost be mastaken for an orange/red. Its really hydrating I didn’t need to prep lips and makes those lips pop. I got so many compliments when wearing it so big thumbs up from me.

Brights really are the order for the month of July and I have fallen in love with the Chanel Nail Polish in Pink Tonic from their summer collection. Its a hot pink that applies beautifully and just looks hot.

Hope you had an amazing month.

The Fox Box

If you lead a manic life and never get a chance to go get a mani or pedi then the Fox Box is the answer to your prayers. How often do you think to yourself I wish I could have a treatment at home or even at work because you just don’t have enough hours in the day?

Its a service that is catered for the working woman or the mum that is stuck with her baby at home but still needs to look pretty and oh yes be pampered. The Fox Box caters for all of this whether you are at home, or a group of ladies wanting a pre-wedding pamper party, whether you have a spare 45 mins at the office or have a big group at work that need some pampering! Nice right?

The Fox Box company was created by 2 women Emma Gallo who had just had a baby and Tove De Chazal, who worked full time and both realised (one night over some wine) that it would be amazing if they could just be able to pick up the phone and get someone to come to them for a mani or a pedi, and that’s how The Fox Box was born. Its all about a luxurious no fuss just frills service, with luxury products giving you the salon experience at home or at the office.

Since I always have a pedi I thought I why not try the Magical Mani, I really liked the sound of the name. My therapist arrived with her boxes of goodies allowing you to choose from 3 brands Essie, Morgan Taylor or CND Vinylux:

RV_PHOTO17490

I opted for CND because apparently its the longer lasting of the 3, polish never lasts on my nails without chipping after the second day, its day 5 and they are still going strong!

The magical mani includes the full manicure treatment that you would expect, but the touch I really love is that they come with their own organic products that have been made by Hello Gorgeous. This really sets them apart from any individual that does house calls and made it that extra bit special for me. I loved the Lavender Hand Soak the smell automatically relaxes you and then had my hands got massaged with the Hand Mask (love a good hand massage). I also loved the Peppermint Cuticle Nail Oil that was used it as it had a roller ball making it so easy to apply yourself. Soon you will be able to buy these lovely goodies online on www.thefoxbox.co.za.

RV_PHOTO17472

The girls come fully prepared with all the shades for each brand for you to look at and decide, much easier so you can see what it realy looks like:

Foxbox 1

I went for the shimmery blue shade called Midnight Swim of course as I just love anything blue and literally bang on about it in alot of my blog posts:

Foxbox 2

Foxbox 3

fOXBOX 4

The whole experience was great and super relaxing, and one that I will be using for sure and recommending to others. Check out the site here for all their pricing but basically pricing starts from R350 to R500 for a mani and pedi.

Currently the home service is just in Cape Town but there are plans to expand to Joburg and Durban. However the corporate service is available in those areas if you looking to pamper your secretaries or the hard working employees and show them some love. You soon will also be able to request an appointment online makeing it even more convienient then it already is.

For bookings mail bookings@thefoxbox.co.za or call 0715091954.

Have you tried The Fox Box service yet?
