I got this foundation brush from Urban Decay at the end of last year and have totally fallen in love with it. Its the Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush which I have been using it on myself and on models to apply foundation. Its one of those brushes you can use for a multiple of things. But so far my fav has been creating a flawless complexion. My favourite brush always changes and at the moment this is the fav. I was defintely a slap it on with fingers kind of girl until recently. Purely because having kids you have about 2 minutes to get your face on. This brush has changed my ways and I really think its for the best because my face looks flawless. Well so I think any way.
I absolutely love that winter makeup has lots of colour on the eyes. We usually see the dark lips and lots of smokey eyes. Here we see lots of bright colours and some new cool graphic eyes.Grunge is definitely here to stay with the kohl eyeliner ringed around the eyes giving that cool effortless makeup look. Check out my favourite beauty trends from SW17 NYFW:
I was asked by Marisa beauty and fashion editor from Women 24 to chat about the trend of contouring your eyes and how to achieve it. We see so many celebrities and fashion week shows with gorgeous skin and contoured eyes. Contouring is all about enhancing your eyes and giving them shape. I was so excited to test out the new Lancome L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks. As they have been reinvented by one of my favourite makeup artists the lovely Lisa Eldridge who is the Creative Director for the brand. Lisa is one of those artists that if its good enough for her then it will be good enough for me. The new lipsticks come in beautiful packaging that you just click and voila the lippie pops out. With literally each shade represented to suit every skin tone. Plus two different textures cream and matte so that there is something here for everyone.
Last week I cut loads of my lipsticks to get my pro kit organised. Plus I have been collecting my brush cleaner empty bottles to for recycling. If you didn’t already know there is a back to Mac programme that is all about being environmentally friendly. After cutting a load of my Mac lipsticks I remembered the program so took myself off to the Waterfront store.
The last week I have literally been trying to sort out my pro kit and getting ruthless. I realised that I needed some Mac beauty basics to add to my kit. Nude lipsticks, lip pencils and paint pots have been my latest purchases. Mac always have such a great selection when it comes to lippies. Even though I have so many I have lost count as a makeup artist you always need every nude shade. Its definitely all about the basics with this purchase with 4 new nude lipsticks, a nude lip liner, two nude pro longwear paint pots and a gel liner that are definite essentials.
It seems I can never get enough of an eyeshadow palette. Everytime I buy one or get one from one of the PR companies its like Christmas has come early. I am totally loving the new Body Shop Down To Earth palettes that come in a whole variety of shades. I got my hands on this grey shadow palette in no 3 which is a combination of grey’s. The best way for me to test out products is or on a shoot so that’s what I did. I did a beauty portrait shoot with 5 gorgeous girls and for the palette I created a smokey eye on Janke.
Lipsticks are definitelty a great way to boost your complexion or just complete a whole look. I am love love loving the new Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Bold Liquid Lipsticks (R295). They are unlike any lipsticks Elizabeth Arden has launched before and they are super pretty on. Launching next week in SA these lippies are part of Liquid Assets collection. That also include liquid liners that I will be featuring in a video tutorial soon.
Its definitely been a few months since I posted my beauty favourites and ages since I filmed a favourites video so hope you enjoy. I hope I don’t ramble on for too long in the video and that its super informative. I have had loads of makeup coming my way to play around with and a mini haul from the UK featuring mr beloved RMS cream eyeshadows. its defintely all about dewy glowing skin when it comes to makeup and skincare. Since transitioning after holiday my skin has been really hydrated so masks and the right foundation are key.
The latest Poetry Spring/Summer Collection Campaign is out and for this shoot I did both hair and makeup for the three models. It was all about soft textured hair and fresh beautiful skin with contoured eyes so that it didn’t take away from the clothes and had more of a dreamy feel. This year the Poetry Collection is all about classic cuts with shades of blues and green to give a more tropical feel. There are a lot of neutral colours here as well as the little black dress.
