Drugstore Makeup I Definitely Recommend
I love makeup of course most of us want the high end products and think that’s the best quality but of its just not realistic. I believe that you have should have a mixture of both drugstore and the more expensive products and mix it up. You don’t need to go and spend R1000+ rand on an eyeshadow palette there are great dupes out there that really do the trick. In this post I wanted to share drugstore makeup that I recommend and will not disappoint. There are certain products that you really need to invest in. But when it comes to foundations, concealers, eyeshadows and lippies go check out Clicks, Foschini and Body Shop and you will find a whole load of beauties.
I have been wanting to write about the Yardley eyeshadow quads for ages because they really are great quality and can create a gorgeous smokey eye. There are 5 in the collection retailing at R129.95 each and my fav of the quads is Foxtail Lily and Wanderlust. Now NYX is a brand you really need to get to know they have launched the whole collection at Clicks which is amazing. There is everything you need if you are a makeup junkie and the dupe of the Mac warm neutrals palette is the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette Warm (R379.95). I actually prefer this palette as all the shades are wearable. I have used this palette on shoots on quite a few occasions and its pretty gorgeous. The Revlon new Colourstay Cream colour eyeshadows are pretty impressive I have been using the no 710 and its a perfect dupe for the Mac barestudy perfect to be worn on its own or as a base for your shadows. Body Shop also have some great eyeshadows which you can buy individually at R95 or create your own little palette. Love the quality and shades.
There is a great collection of drugstore foundations and concealers especially at Clicks. I walked into the Waterfront store this week and was surprised by the new makeup area. There are 3 foundations that I have used and I absolutely recommend but may not be for everyone. I like a liquid foundation with a sheer to medium coverage that leaves my skin feeling really dewy. The Rimmel Perfect Match (179.95) has probably the most coverage and it totally evens out my complexion I love it. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation is gorgeous it gives me the right kind of dewy and makes my skin feel amazing too. The NYX Total Control drop foundation (R220) is a new discovery for me its super light and melts into your skin and is the more sheer of the 3 but I love it al the same.
When it comes to drugstore concealers there are two I really love, I have yet to test out the NYX concealers but will definitely try and repport back. I love the Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealers the only downside is that there are only 3 shades. They are super creamy, illuminating and totally hydrate the under eye are. For best results pat in the product with your fingers or blend in with a blending brush. I recently tested out the Revlon Youth FX blur + Fill concealer and was really impressed with the quality. The concealer has as sponge applicator so perfect to apply under the area and helps remove those pesky dark circles.
Now when it comes to drugstore lipsticks there is a great selection out there and I often use them and get lots of compliments. Most people assume that I am wearing a Mac or a Chanel but often its a maybelline or a L’Oreal. I love the Kate moss Rimmel Rose Gold Collection this time we saw not only the nudes but a range of reds. The nudes are amazing and have been a go to on set quite a few times. The L’Oreal Colour Riche Matte have a great colour range and are super comfortable and look gorgeous on. The Revlon Ultra HD Matte lipsticks are also gorgeous I was just wearing the red which has a beautiful colour pay off and feels amazing on your lips.The NYX butter gloss lippies are just divine and I think pretty much loves by most bloggers. They make lips look beautiful and ultra glossy plus there is a great selection of shades. Last up if you haven’t tried the Avon Mark collection check out what they have to offer I love the lipsticks and the quality. The 3D lipsticks come in 10 shades and make your lips look totally fabulous.
