Get The Looks: Elle Beauty

This is my first ever Elle magazine SA beauty editorial where I did 5 make up looks to go with the 5 hair trends with 2 beautiful girls one of which is Hilda who is one of the faces of Lancome worldwide.  The brief was that each hairstyle had to have a different make up look so from  natural to an undone grunge gloss eye.

The opening image was the natural look with wavy hair. They key to this look is the skin, contouring and highlighting. The rest is really quite natural with some defintion in the crease, fill the brows and a little bit of mascara. For the skin it was essential it was prepped first so I applied the Nars Luminous Moisture Cream to make sure Hilda’s skin was hydrated and glowing especially as she had been on shoots every day. For the foundation I used the Smashbox Liquid Halo foundation for that beautiful flawless dewy finish but the skin still looks natural. For the highlighting and contouring I used my Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow. On the cheeks as all I wanted was the skin to look healthy I lightly dusted the Mac Coppertone Blush onto the apples of the cheeks.

This look was inspired from one of the AW13 looks createds by the Mac team at the Altuzarra show. Its all about the eyes and beautiful skin. I kept the skin pretty much the same throughout all of Hilda’s looks. On the eyes I used the Mac Fall 13 Eye collection using the grey shade and blending all over the eye lid up to the brow and then under the eye I applied the Mac eyeshadow in Cranberry under the eyes from the outer corner to the centre. The lips were kept really nude because all the focus was on the unbelievable hair created by Kevin Epstein and the eyes.

image003-2This for me was my favourite make up look, I really love the undone gloss grunge eye. It looked amazing on Hilda paired with the textured hair. So for the eyes when its an undone look you really don’t need to worry about it being neat. I started with eyeliner on the top lash line and blended upwards I used the Mac eyeliner in Smoulder all the way up to the crease and  applied in the waterline, I patted the black shimmer shadow from the Stila In the Know Palette onto the lid up to the crease and then to finish off the look I used the Mac Lip Glass for the gloss look. The brows needed to be really strong so I filled in using the Benefit Browzing in Dark and of course lots of mascara.

image004-2For this look the girls from Elle wanted beautiful clean skin with contouring and highlighting and a trend bright lip to go with the beautiful fishtail plait. For the skin I used my trusty Bobbi Brown stick foundation, for the contouring I went 3 shades darker using the stick foundation again and for the highlighting I used my Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Topaz, this was limited edition so try Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Gold Deposit. The brows needed to be strong as I kept the eyes pretty nude so I filled in creating strong definition. The lips were key for this look so I applied lip balm first and traced the lips with a nude liner and then applied the Mac Lipstick in Morange.

image005-2For the final look the hair was simple with a bit of a boy take on the hairstyle so to make it more feminine we went for the pop of colour on the cheeks and up to the temple. I used a mixture of the Mac Mineralise Blush in gentle and Dollymix.
