Get the Look: Elle Birthday Shoot

I always love to share the looks from shoots I have done that I really love so here is the latest instalment of Get The Look from the Elle SA 18th birthday editorial shoot. I was one of 2 of the makeup artists on the day and I got to work with these amazing models. The theme for the shoot was to give each girl a word that represented what the amagzine is all about and we had to create looks to match this.

Here are the key elements for each Get The Look and the word used to describe each girl:

Stylish: This look created for summer was all about making her look sophisticated so as to go with the bag and the amazing dress. For the eyes I wanted to create a really contoured look making it very structured like the dress. I used taupes and chocolates in the crease of the eye pulling up to the brow in the inner corner and on the outer corners created definition using a chocolate shadow and the Mac 263 angled brush and winged out at the top and bottom lash line. I filled in brows to make them more defined using my Smashbox BrowTech and for the lashes I used the Elizabeth Arden Colour Lash Enhancing Mascara to give beautiful lashes. For the skin I prepped with the Mac Fix + spray, cleansed and moisturised and to get flawless looking skin I used Nars Sheer Glow Foundation with the YSL Dare to Glow Highligter. Lips were kept nude but added Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream to create that gloss on the lips.

Spirited: I got to shoot my 2 fav twin sisters Aida and Eiva who were given the word spirited as they are such fun and full of energy girls. The outfits were tuxedo’s in a beautiful dark berry colour so I wanted the makeup to match. For the skin I prepped to give full hydration using the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and then used the Smashbox HD Halo Liquid Foundation for a beautiful flawless finish. The eyes and lips matched the outfit so for the lids I applied the Clarins Eye Pencil in Plum on the top lash line and blended and in the waterline and then to add more intensity I used the new Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Tisse Camelia taking the intensity shade and blending over the liner and winging out. For the brows I used Mac Pencil in Lingering and the lashes Charlotte Tilbury Fat Lashes Mascara. Lips were a beautiful dark berry with a mixture of Mac Lip Pencil in Nightmoth and Rebel Lipstick.

Sexy: The gorgeous Charissa got the word sexy so make up was kept pretty nude but the fucus was all about contouring on the face and the eyes. For the skin I used Nars Sheer Glow to give her skin a beautiful dewy finish and concealed using the Mac Pro Correct and Conceal Palette to make sure that everything was flawless. For the eyes I spent a lot of time really contouring the eyes to create beautiful definition but no heaviness. So they shadow I used to blend into the crease and in the inner corner up to the brow bone was my favourite Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Sable is an amazing shade for contouring and then in the inner corner of the eye a pearl shimmer. I filled in brows as this was key for the look using the Smashbox BrowTech and for the lashes Maybelline The Falsies Mascara. I highlighted and using Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector  and for bronzing I used one of my all time favs the Nars Bronzer in Laguna. Lips were kept nude but the overall look was fresh and beautiful.

Colouful: For Aloud’s look because the clothes were colourful I kept the make up totally clean but added the colour to the nails using the fake nails from House of Holland by Elegant Touch in Geek which are very cool and quirky nails. The makeup I prepped the skin and for the foundation I used the Mac Matchmaster in no 10 with a mixture of YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in B90 all over the skin to create an evened out flawless finish. I slightly contoured in the crease of the eye with Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Espresso and under the cheek bones to create definition and for the highlighter I used Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Topaz. I filled brows in using the Espresso shade swell and added lots of mascara. The lips were kept nude with a chocolate shade and Elizabeth Arden 8HR Cream over.

Emotional: This look for the beautiful Morgan was such a strong word so I wanted to keep the focus on the eyes. The under eye smokey eye is a massive trend and really gives a totally different dynamic to the makeup. The lids were kept very simple with a contour in the crease using Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Sable and under the eye I went for a cranberry shade using the Mac eyeshadow in Cranberry which is a big Autumn/Winter trend. I used a flat brush to apply on the bottom lash line and slightly winged it out. I filled in brows using the Mac Brow Pencil In Lingering and for lashes used the Charlotte Tilbury Fat Lashes Mascara. The skin was also a really key element to this look to create the drama so a flawless very dewy finish really made the eyes pop. I prepped skin using the Nars Luminous Moisture Cream and then applied the Benefit Oxygen Wow Hello Flawless foundation which is an unbelievable foundation and then contoured using the Nars bronzer in Laguna. Lips were kept nude and the nails is where we added more drama with the Inglot polish in 942 which is a beautiful deep blue shade.

So hope you enjoyed my latest Get The Look post and you are inspired to try so new makeup looks.
