I love for shooting for Elle South Africa we always have such a fun time while creating beautiful pictures. This shoot I got to do hair as well and it was all about being feminine with a touch of 60’s makeup. In this Get The Look Post the key elements were beautiful skin and the feline flick:
For the brief I was given some references for hair and make up they wanted the model to look elegant to go with the clothes but also very simple with a little touch of the 60’s. In this look its all about enhancing features and that is really what makeup is all about.
For the hair I blow dryer the hair and used a GHD and put into a pony tail and then took pieces from the side and gave them a little tong so there was some shape to the pieces. The hair changed 2 more times to work with the outfits but it was just a case of taking the pony tail and pinning into place.
For the makeup the key elements was the skin, eyes and brows. There is nothing more feminine and with a hint of the 60’s than the feline flick on the eye. I took the Mac Fluidline in Black Track with the Mac 263 angle brush and in the crease of the eye a lot of definition using Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Sable. The brows I wanted to realy define them so I filled in with another 263 angle brush using the Smashbox Brow Tech.
The skin is always a key thing for me in any shoot and if you read in a lot of my posts I talk about skin and how skincare beauty is so important. Before I apply any makeup I make sure the skin is clean my current favourite is Bioderma, then spritz the face with the Mac Fix + and then I applied Nars Luminous Moisturiser. The foundation I used one of my favourite foundations the Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in Honey it gives a beautiful finish with great coverage and really lasts for hours. Contouring I used Nars in Laguna to create some definition and for the cheeks I kept it very subtle as the focus is really on the eyes.
Lips and nails were kept nude so as to keep in line with the feminity of the shoot.
