Since starting blogging I see how crazy it can be with all the beauty events and coming up with fresh content all the time. The Beauty Editors for the magazines attend so many launches and still have to do all their work. While we are thinking what an easy life its actually not because there are so many products and brands its endless. So if you love all things beauty and you are thinking about wanting to be a beauty writer or editor then I am asking some of the key magazine beauty editors what it is they love about their jobs and what products they recommend and have discovered.

As I won the Best Beauty Blogger at the Fairlady Beauty Awards I thought let’s start with Kelli from Fairlady. Kelli loves shooting products and she is one of the judges for the Best of Beauty Awards so she is definitely very knowledgable when it comes to all things beauty. Kelli is one of the loveliest people I have met in this industry and she was very excited to share:

1) What do you love about beauty?

They say that when you stop getting excited over your job, you need to reconsider your career path. People who know me well know that when I love something, I ADORE it and scream it from the rooftops. There are so many facets to this wonderful industry that I enjoy, love and appreciate. For starters, the products are amazing. From innovative beauty products that target pesky problem areas to a long-wearing red lipstick that stays put from dawn till dusk – I truly love them all.

I also love helping people and advising them on what to use. Being a beauty editor means that people come to you for advice constantly and when I receive positive feedback on how a particular product changed their lives, then I know my job is done. It’s about sharing your knowledge and educating, that’s where my passion lies.

2) What is your favourite product and why?

Oh my word, how on earth am I supposed to name just one? Surely this must be equivalent to choosing your favourite child…? I’m so dramatic. But seriously, this is a difficult question. I’m going to name a few because I cannot state just one. I can’t live without Dermalogica Microfoliant. It’s my skincare secret and gets my glow back in no time at all. Davines Oi/Oil Beautifying Potion is an absolute Godsend when it comes to my hair. It’s the ideal finishing product and I use it religiously. Africology’s Renewing Facial Therapy is my go-to facial oil. It hydrates my skin sufficiently after just a few drops and the smell is heavenly. And when it comes to fragrance, I love anything by Narciso Rodriguez, Hermes, Clarins and Marc Jacobs because they are all just fantastic. No need to justify these scents.

3) Out of all the launches you have been to what product are you most excited about and why?

There are so many exciting launches at the moment. However, there’s only one that I feel takes the cake. The new Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser Skin Conditioner is genius! The majority of women don’t moisturise their bodies (tisk tisk) and now Nivea has ensured there’s no excuse with their new, clever product. It’s simple: use your shower gel as your normally would and then rinse. Then apply the In-Shower Body Moisturiser to your body. Then rinse off. Then hop out the shower and dry. Your body has never felt so silky soft before. This product lives in my shower. Brilliant!

4) What are the key trends you are loving for SS13?

There are so many feminine, colourful trends this Summer. Skin will remain dewy. When it comes to lips, women will be sporting fuchsia instead of red, and coral of course, which is always big in the warmer months. Eyes will be adorned with blue eyeliner from turquoise to cobalt and black mascara will take a back seat. It’s about multi-coloured lashes this season. Hair is long and flowy and be heavily influenced by the festival look which involves flower headbands and accessories. When it comes to hair, I say: the bigger, the better! Product trend wise? Oils, oils, oils – for everything: Hair, skin, body, cuticles, etc.

Thanks Kelli for sharing with us. I am definitely going to be trying the Africology Oil and Davine’s Oil/Oil Beautifying Potion!

Hope you enjoyed my post. x
