I recently met the lovely Cosmo beauty editor Juana and she kindly agreed to give a little insight into life as a beauty editor. Recently I featured Kelli from Fairlady but I love speaking to the different editors and hearing their views on beauty. I go to some launches but beauty editors have a crazy schedule of launches, shooting for the magazine and writing copy and informing the readers of what’s on trend. Its also great to learn about new products as there are so many and I personally am already overwhelmed by what’s on offer. Its also great to get recommendations from tested products.
So here is what I asked Juana:
1) What is the best part of your job?
I love that it is creative and I get to play and experiment with beauty products. What girl wouldn’t love that? Every day I get to sit in my office and go: Soooooo, what can I play with today?
Oh, and if you happen to get to the office and you forgot to put mascara on… There is a drawer of full of mascaras to choose from. Very handy 🙂
2) What are your top beauty products at the moment?
I am having a love affair with balms and oils! Hair oils, but also for face and body. The new Redken Diamond Oil is amazing, leaves my hair shiny without being heavy (I have sad, thin little strands and will take all the help I can get) and you can use a flat iron after you applied it, as it contains no silicone. I adore the new The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm (it removes waterproof make up like nothing!). My favourite multi-tasking oil (so that’s on hair, body and face – my best to travel with) is the Nux Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Care Dry Oil.
3) What is your favourite SS13 trend look?
The two-toned lip (Holly Fulton, SS13)! The combo of the bright orange and pink with dewy skin just shouts summer and sundowners on the beach. Plus, it is surprisingly easy to wear.
4) Out of all the launches you have been to what product is the most exciting and why?
It has to be the new fragrance from Giorgio Armani, Si. I absolutely fell in love with this scent. Because I’m a Beauty Ed, I come across A LOT of new fragrances and often I go: ‘Yeah, I like that, it’s pretty, but it doesn’t blow me away. Often fragrance aren’t very unique. We get a bit picky… Si was the opposite. I wanted it! I think what makes it special is the fact that it is entirely different to anything that I have worn before and (this is a bold statement) smelt before. There is something enigmatic and irresistible about it. People just gravitate to it.
5) What would be your top beauty tip for my readers?
Today we have access to such a wealth of info, use it to your advantage. Play and always be open to learning and trying something new. If you don’t know how to apply the perfect winged liner, you don’t have an excuse anymore. Go online and watch a tutorial on how to do it and then practice, practice, practice. In the end you will master it.
Thanks Juana for sharing with us. Hope you enjoyed my post. x
