At the beginning of this week I got the pleasure of attending the Mac AW14 trend workshop with Senior Pro makeup artist Michelle-Lee Collins to see what the key products were in creating all the amazing makeup looks at the shows and take us through the 4 key trends. In the pic above Michelle showed us a look on each Mac girl incorpoating some new products and some fav oldies.

Highlighting and amazing skin really is key throughout all the trends with products like the essential oils to create a more subtle shimmer to the skin and the amazing Soft and Gentle mineralise skinfinish for beautiful highlights. The cream colur base in Luna, Shell and Bronze were key in creating highlights to the skin with foundation layered on top for the moonlit effect and the latest product Studio Eye Gloss in lightly taped was used alot on eyes, face and lips as well as the Strobe Liquid to luminise the skin blended in with foundation. Blue was a big trend for the graphic eye so the fluidline waveline was a key product backstage as well as the lippoe photo.

The most exciting thing for me at the workshop is that we got the Mac bible with all the looks from the AW14 shows and what products were used to create the look so will definitely be trying these ones out.

The first trend Off Colour was all about organic looking makeup, tones and textures with inspiration taken from the forest. Shades like grey wash, rust, mushroom and dirty taupes are key for this trend. With lightening skin, features were magnified and subtle contouring almost invsible to the eye. See below one of the looks from the book skin looks amazing and the eyes are almost dirty looking with rust shades.

Mac AW14 4Michelle took the off colour look using the ocre eye shadow for the eyelids all the way up to the brow bone, brows defined, skin was prepped the Fix + and the amazing softening lotion and buffed in and then a buffing brush was used to apply Mac Face and Body so skin looked dewy and natural with shell cream colour base as the highlight to lift the face.

The key to the look was the lips with chestnut lip pencil used to seriously define the lips and all over the lip and then photo lipstick applied over and the final finish to really give the pop was the Rhianna lipgloss on top.Streamlined was all about the liner and the brows which where fluffy and textured and some serious graphic eyes that were more linear and really cool and not anything like the calssic feline flick. The Fluidline waveline is a gorgeous blue gel liner that rocked fashion week moving away from the traditional black and adding more of an edge to the makeup so Michelle showed us how to work it.

Michelle applied the liner with the 210 brush staring on the outer corners to create the shape first and then lashings of the IED mascara to create a chunky spikey lash another big trend and then went over the outer flick with the super slick liner to create a dimensional effect. On the lids we saw the amazing eye shimmery gloss in action to really make the eyes stand out. Contouring was created with the mineralise skin finish and highlighting was created using shell cream colur base. To finish off the look Michelle used the clear gloss for the lips to keep it looking really natural.

On Reflection was all about copper, gold and silvers, veluxe eyshadows and ultra sparkley glitters, lots of glossy eyes and lips. As well as face and body being a key foundation the Mineralise moisture foundation was another key foundation for amazing looking skin and one of my personal favourites.

Mac AW14 5 Mac AW14 6In this look Michelle created fluffy brows with the brow pencil, highlighted the skin with bronze cream colour base beneath the foundation to create the moonlit skin. For the eyes Deeply Dashing pressed pigment was applied to the lids and then copper sparkle was wet to create a beautiful liner on the lash line and then the clear gloss on the lid.

The last key Unprocessed is all about the skincare and beauiful highlighted skin with products like the cream colur base and the essential oils playing a key role in the trend.

I didn’t get to watch all of the last look but the key was the skin so prepping skin with a mix of essentail oils, Fix + and softening lotion and then taking the cream colour base in this case taking Luna and applying it under the eyes and onto the cheek bones and then applying the face and body foundation  over so that the highlight comes through and totally lifts the face. This look is all about beautiful skin with subtle contours and skin looking as real as possible.

We got to take some of the key products home with us but since I already have the fluidline waveline gel liner and soft and gentle mineralise skinfinish in my kit I am offering the 2 products in a giveaway for one lucky person. So if you want to take part then write in the comments box why you want to win and I will announce a winner next week Wednesday 18th Feb.

Mac is just super expensive to stock up your kit with when starting out as a makeup artist, but I would love to have these key products which could make all the difference in the world when finishing or completing a look. I’d like it for myself as well to achieve that flawless skin finish. Totally in love with these makeup products and trends♡

  5. I have had the waveline fluidline and soft and gentle skinfinish on my wishlist for ages! I think that it can be used for a number of looks, and the fact that it’s part of the AW14 trends is just awesome. Would be lovely to win this 🙂

  6. I am absolutely obsessed with gel eyeliners so it would be such a treat to win the fluid line waveline as MAC products never disappoint. I am also a huuuge fan of your blog so winning anything here would have be hopping, skipping and jumping for joy 🙂 xxx

  7. The MAC bible sounds like a must-have item. I really love what MAC has done with branding, the company is 100% worth the hype. Their products are done so well for both make up artists and anyone who has a passion for looking fresh and trendy. I would love to try the eyeliner, as it boosts long wear and high pigmentation, and the skin finish powder never disappointing to add a soft glow to summer-ready skin, think Nicki Minaj. For those reason, I would like to be considered for this competition.

  8. You’ve had a really great time in MAC’s workshop, I can’t imagine how many things you’ve learned through this experience. In my opinion, MAC is such a wonderful brand.

Pllllllleeease I would love to win this amazing prize. I absolutely adore MAC products. Things have been a bit tough financial wise, and I cannot afford to splurge on these products any longer. Everyday I look in the cosmetics stores and try and test these products out and to have some of my own, would be amazing. I have always been a huge eyeliner fan, can not leave the house without my liner, and the skin finish would give me just the perfect finishing touches to my look!

  10. I love mac.. and since I had my kids I don’t get to spend as much there as I did before. I would love to win this. Thanks for the chance.

  11. I’ve seen and heard so much amazing things about MAC and their products. Fluidline waveline would be a great product to trial! And honestly when does one have too much makeup? I loved the pictures of the gals they look so fresh faced!

I am a massive MAC fan, and where I can I try and splurge on my favourite lippie, Ruby Woo. Before religiously reading your posts. I had no interest in foundation, primers, brushes. Seeing almost every post with the mineralize foundation, gets me intrigued to give it a go, because of such flawless results. As I am edging into my late twenties (cringe) I feel the need to cover up, especially the fact that I am around younger students, makes me feel a bit more self-conscious. I would LOVE to give these products a go.

  13. Hi Shahnaz!

Those products have been in my wishlist for decades, they’re a dream to me!
I can’t imagine how many makeup looks I can create.

    Thank you for this chance.

  14. I never win anything but I’m crossing my fingers for this 1 :-D. Every time I walk past the Mac store I fall more in love, but the cost of the products just don’t fit into my price range 🙁 I am dying to try these products out and finally have something from Mac that is my own.

  15. Only saw now my commented didn’t go through 🙁 Hope i’m not too late

Why I would love these two amazing products because who doesn’t love Mac products would love the to try the fluidline waveline gel liner because I really struggle with liquid liner the colour is just amazing so different to the normal black or Brown looks like such a fun colour to work with. And the soft and gentle mineralise skinfinish I love having glowing skin for summer it just makes you look fresh and dewy which I adore I feel like it will give my round face some dimension and softness at the same time. These are two products I know will help me work on the features I want to make stand out more I love a stunning winged eye with some glowing skin a perfect pair you just cant go wrong with.

Fingerscrossed I would love to have any one of these amazing MAC products in my beauty draw 🙂 hoping its me

    Regards
    Nooreen
