At the beginning of this week I got the pleasure of attending the Mac AW14 trend workshop with Senior Pro makeup artist Michelle-Lee Collins to see what the key products were in creating all the amazing makeup looks at the shows and take us through the 4 key trends. In the pic above Michelle showed us a look on each Mac girl incorpoating some new products and some fav oldies.
Highlighting and amazing skin really is key throughout all the trends with products like the essential oils to create a more subtle shimmer to the skin and the amazing Soft and Gentle mineralise skinfinish for beautiful highlights. The cream colur base in Luna, Shell and Bronze were key in creating highlights to the skin with foundation layered on top for the moonlit effect and the latest product Studio Eye Gloss in lightly taped was used alot on eyes, face and lips as well as the Strobe Liquid to luminise the skin blended in with foundation. Blue was a big trend for the graphic eye so the fluidline waveline was a key product backstage as well as the lippoe photo.
The most exciting thing for me at the workshop is that we got the Mac bible with all the looks from the AW14 shows and what products were used to create the look so will definitely be trying these ones out.
The first trend Off Colour was all about organic looking makeup, tones and textures with inspiration taken from the forest. Shades like grey wash, rust, mushroom and dirty taupes are key for this trend. With lightening skin, features were magnified and subtle contouring almost invsible to the eye. See below one of the looks from the book skin looks amazing and the eyes are almost dirty looking with rust shades.
Michelle took the off colour look using the ocre eye shadow for the eyelids all the way up to the brow bone, brows defined, skin was prepped the Fix + and the amazing softening lotion and buffed in and then a buffing brush was used to apply Mac Face and Body so skin looked dewy and natural with shell cream colour base as the highlight to lift the face.
The key to the look was the lips with chestnut lip pencil used to seriously define the lips and all over the lip and then photo lipstick applied over and the final finish to really give the pop was the Rhianna lipgloss on top.Streamlined was all about the liner and the brows which where fluffy and textured and some serious graphic eyes that were more linear and really cool and not anything like the calssic feline flick. The Fluidline waveline is a gorgeous blue gel liner that rocked fashion week moving away from the traditional black and adding more of an edge to the makeup so Michelle showed us how to work it.
Michelle applied the liner with the 210 brush staring on the outer corners to create the shape first and then lashings of the IED mascara to create a chunky spikey lash another big trend and then went over the outer flick with the super slick liner to create a dimensional effect. On the lids we saw the amazing eye shimmery gloss in action to really make the eyes stand out. Contouring was created with the mineralise skin finish and highlighting was created using shell cream colur base. To finish off the look Michelle used the clear gloss for the lips to keep it looking really natural.
On Reflection was all about copper, gold and silvers, veluxe eyshadows and ultra sparkley glitters, lots of glossy eyes and lips. As well as face and body being a key foundation the Mineralise moisture foundation was another key foundation for amazing looking skin and one of my personal favourites.
In this look Michelle created fluffy brows with the brow pencil, highlighted the skin with bronze cream colour base beneath the foundation to create the moonlit skin. For the eyes Deeply Dashing pressed pigment was applied to the lids and then copper sparkle was wet to create a beautiful liner on the lash line and then the clear gloss on the lid.
I didn’t get to watch all of the last look but the key was the skin so prepping skin with a mix of essentail oils, Fix + and softening lotion and then taking the cream colour base in this case taking Luna and applying it under the eyes and onto the cheek bones and then applying the face and body foundation over so that the highlight comes through and totally lifts the face. This look is all about beautiful skin with subtle contours and skin looking as real as possible.
We got to take some of the key products home with us but since I already have the fluidline waveline gel liner and soft and gentle mineralise skinfinish in my kit I am offering the 2 products in a giveaway for one lucky person. So if you want to take part then write in the comments box why you want to win and I will announce a winner next week Wednesday 18th Feb.
