Shahnaz Loves Beauty

Its that time of year when we are seriously all melting from the crazy heat and are all wandering how to we stop our makeup from literally slipping off our faces by the end of the day. If you work in an air conditioned office then its not such a worry for you but if you are like me that is shooting outside a lot and have to worry about not only how I look but how is the makeup going to stay on my models face!! Its all about working with the right products to create a melt proof makeup look.

After prepping your skin with your beauty routine get your hands on a primer especially if you have oily skin this will help reduce the oil and keep your complexion matt hopefully throughout the day as well as helping foundation last longer. Smashbox literally have a primer for every complexion and great ones for oily complexions, if you are working on a budget then try the L’Oreal Infallible mattyfing primer.  If you don’t suffer from an oily complexion and have a dry complexion then choose a hydrating primer such as the Gosh Primer + hydration or the Smashbox primer water that will also help with hydration throughout the day and plump up that skin. If enlarged pores is your main issue then try the amazing Benefit Porefessional primer or Kiehl’s micro-blur skin perfector will help smooth out your complexion and help keep that foundation last that bit longer.

Now when it comes to foundation choice remember to take into consideration your skin type if you have an oily complexion there are now so many foundations to choose from starting from drugstore like L’Oreal Inafflible and the Bourjois Air Mat (out in Feb 2016) that will last the day and help keep the oil literally at bay, if you want to go for a more expensive foundation then there are some goodies by Elizabeth Arden and Clarins to choose from. I am a lover of the Bobbi Brown stick foundation its for all skin types, gives great coverage and lasts for hours especially on the darker skin girls and its my go to for shoots. If you are like me and want that dewy finish then I love Estee lauder Double Wear, Kiehls BB cream as its super light and let’s the skin breath, Stila Stay All Day but use it lightly so its not too heavy on the skin, Mac face and body as its a great sweayproof lightweight foundation and the list goes on.

To keep foundation on either go for a translucent powder like from Mac and can be used pretty much on most complexions but remember to apply only where needed which is your T- zone (forehead, nose and chin) and under your eyes to help keep your concealer on. Blotting sheets are also amazing to keep oily skin at bay and also to remove sweat without moving your makeup and then just apply powder to re set your makeup. Mac make great ones but a great budget alternative is from Essence. Alternatively there are great finishing powders that match your skin and keep that glow without dulling your foundation or setting sprays that I like to use on myself such as the Beauty Fix or Mac Fix + that you spritz on after makeup is applied to help it last longer.

For eye makeup I suggest an eye primer as this part of your face has the most oil and your eye makeup will disppear in minutes especially if you are using a shadow. I love the Smashbox eye primerBenefit Air Patrol and Clarins light perfecting base to keep that eyeshadow on longer if you going for powder. The best shadows to go for in the heat are long wearing cream shadows that don’t budge throughout the day my all time favourite are the Maybelline 24HR colour tattoo shadows (Clicks) make sure you really layer them on, alternatively go for Bobbi Brown if you want to spend more on your makeup they have a great selection. Waterproof liners are a great way to go as well and Smashbox have a great selection of their Always Sharp liners so you can apply and off you go as well as the gel liners from Bobbi Brown that have great staying power.

Oh wow, some great tips! I ordered a little benefit set for pores and shine, which I think contains that primer.

I suffer from oil and shine in summer so will definitely be using these tips 🙂
