Sunscreen is one of the most important things when it comes to your skincare routine. Especially living in a hot climate its so key that we protect ourselves against the harsh rays and prevent sun spots and ageing. I used to be so lazy because living in England literally didn’t need it. Living in Cape Town means protection, protection, protection not only for me but when working with models. Working outside means I have to wear sunscreen every day but rather invest in one for your face to avoid making your skin greasy. My favourites are from budget to the more pricey so there is something here for everyone. So here are my favourite face sunscreens:

I have used all of these sunscreens and put them to the test and all of them have not let me down. My skincare routine consists of applying sunscreen on my face first and then applying the rest of my lotions and potions. My current go to is the Eucerin anti-age sun fluid SPF 50 as it not only protects my skin but it leaves a gorgeous glow and doesn’t leave my skin all greasy and a little goes a long way. There is a tinted version o this one so if you aren’t keen on wearing base then its a goodie. I have spent a lot of time in the sun recently working on location and my skin is totally protected with this one and no bruning in sight. If you suffer from sensitive skin then this one is definitely the one for you.

Dermalogica is a brand that I reach for time and time again and the solar defense booster is one I keep in my set bag. Its super light and blends in beautifully and protects my models complexions. I love that it comes in a small bottle so its easy to pop into my set bag. Enriched with antioxidants Vitamin C and E this bad boy softens skin as well as protecting against  harsh radicals.

La Roche Posay Anthelios is new to my sunscreen collection and I have been in heat of 38 degrees and I haven’t got burnt. This one has a tint to it so perfect for the no makeup makeup vibe as well as being seriously protected from the sun. This one was taken with me on safari and it hands down does the job. Its a universal tinted fluid so works for all skintones which is great and absorbs into the skin without that greasy feeling. Filled with antioxidants and La Roche-Posay thermal spring water which protects the skin its a great brand and a great sunscreen.

Nimue Sun C Sunscreen and Antioxidant Skin Protectant is the bad boys of sun peotection. its the pricer of the bunch at R415 but you know you are in for a goodie with this one. With anti ageing benefits and Vitamin C that leaves skin feeling moisturised as well as glowing. I got this one on my visit to the Life Day Sap in the waterfront and its definitely staying in my personal stash. After having my first skin peel I have to wear sunscreen on my face every day and I know this one won’t let me down.

Nivea anti-age face sunscreen is another one that sits in my pro kit as Nivea is one of those brands that has never let me down. I use it for my kids and I use Nivea for my body when I am sunbathing and I know we will always be protected. This particular on is just for the face as you want something that isn’t greasy and won’t interfere with your skincare routine. With this one you only need a little amount as its quite thick and then massage in. This sun cream helps prevent sun allergies and of course anti ageing which seems to be what I am reaching for these days.

Sunscreen is one thing that we can’t save money on and yes its an expense but its vital for looking after our complexions and our bodies. Living in South Africa has totally changed my way of thinking and its all about protecting my family against harsh rays and enjoying being in the sun.
