Writing about food is not something I have done on my blog before but because I am such a foodie and spend a lot of time out eating out so I thought why not add a weekly feature on all the yummy places I have been to. I get asked all the time where to go out because my hubbie and I are always on the town and because I am freelance I luckily get days off in the week and get to lunch out each week. I have out together a small list of my current fav places to eat in Cape town some new and some have been around a while. I love small light bites and I love tapas so this selection has a bit of a tapas feel with some Italian thrown in.
Bouchon Bistro – Its a cosy restaurant in Hout Street perfect for a date night or dinner with friends. The menu is tapas with a great variety to choose from and exellent wine choices to go with. We went with two other couples and of course were the loudest ones there beacuse we felt comfortable to be ourselves and have fun which is so important when choosing a place to eat. The service was great and the food was excellent. The menu changes up each week which is great so you can go time and time again. A definite must visit.
Charango – This restaurant has been opened for a while now but one I always recommend. Its got a great vibe especially on first Thursdays where the place is pumping and the cocktails are flowing. Its peruvian cuisine that is super tasty the dirt rubbed tuna tacos, prawn tostados and seared tuna tataki are definitely my fav dishes and the frozen maguaritas are pretty good too. Its a great summer and winter venue and a great place to celebrate a birthday or just have a fun night out.
Chefs Wharehouse: Love love love this place. I took my mum and a friend to eat here last month as I have heard so many amazing things. You can’t book so best to get there are 12 for lunch or 4.30/5 for an early dinner. Its tapas that is a two people sharing menu for R540 with 8 dishes to share or if you are on your own you can choose 4 from the menu. You can’t choose what you are going to get but boy you won’t be disappointed. The dishes are really generous so at the end of it you will be full but you may want to squeeze in a little bit of dessert because its also mouth watering.
Villa 47: This is the newest restaurant to hit Cape Town owned by Kluk and right next door to the shop on Bree St and I promise you will not be disappointed with this one. Its what Cape Town has been needing in terms of restaurants and it gets packed so make a booking if you want to get in. I went with as girlfriend last week and I walked out of there with a food baby going on. The home made bread just melts in your mouth so if you are watching your waist then don’t let them even put it on the table. Its an Italian style restaurant that has a great vibe with lots of options for seating inside and outside. There is a great selection to choose from and a few daily specials like the Burata which is to die for. We opted for the Ceaser salad to share which was delicious and a great size portion and I had noodles with prawns so yummy. Thankfully I didn’t have space for dessert. If you are a lover of anti pasti and cheeses there is definitely something here for you too. Great for lunch or dinner.
