My Makeup Essentials for Dark Skin Tones
When it comes to a simple makeup look here are my makeup essentials for dark skintones. For me its all about amazing skin with a beautiful highlight and a pretty eye. Once you have good skin everything else falls into place. Of course make sure skin has been prepped I like to use primers like the Ren Perfect Canvas or the Mac Prep and Prime Radiance Natural Radiance. Keep makeup simple and invest in a good foundation and concealer. For me with dark skintones concealer is everything as it helps correct skin, brighten up under the eyes and just give that flawless finish.
When it comes to foundation I do love the Mac Face and Body for a sheer gorgeous finish. If you have a seriously dark skintone they you need to go for their Master Match. The face and body glides on beautifully and just makes skin look amazing. Alternatively I love the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick for a fuller flawless coverage.
For concealer the Mac Pro Conceal and Correct in Medium Deep is my absolute favourite. You can even use it to just correct the skin if you have good skin and leave it at that. The dark palette has 5 concealer shades and a corrector. I always use the shade that matches the skin when concealing areas on the cheeks etc. However, when it comes to under the eyes then I go for a lighter shade to give a more wide awake look. I also like to conceal around the mouth as sometimes the skin is a little darker there so I lighten it up a little.
For highlighting my actual go to is no longer available. My alternative is the Mac Cream Colour Base in Bronze it gives a gorgeous natural glow to the skin. Best to apply with fingers on the cheek bones, bridge of your nose and cupids bow. I am super excited to try out their new Irredescent Loose Powder in Golden Bronze which I will be chatting about next week.
For a setting powder I have fallen in love with the Mac Pressed Pro Longwear Powder in Dark Deep. It works a treat with skin without the face looking caked. It totally matches the dark skintones and when it comes to a photo shoot the skin looks flawless. I also love the Mac Prep and Prime Matte Fix + Spray for darker skintones if you want a slightly more dewy finish but without the shine. You can spritz this one when you have applied your base and throughout the day.
For the eyes my new palette in my kit the Urban Decay Naked Heat its by far the best they have launched. Its absolutely perfect for for dark skin girls for a gorgeous day or night look. There is some matt and shimmer in there so you can work the shimmer on the lids to create the wow factor. Or just apply the different shades or red/brick to the lids for a more toned down look. I love love love it. Will definitely be showcasing the palette in a post over the next couple of weeks.
