Over the years I have tested out loads of different foundations of course when you are a makeup artist you are always trying new things. Being a beauty blogger means I also get sent products so I have been really lucky. In this post I wanted to chat about some of my some of my current fav foundations. The majority here are on the luxury side and I promise I will chat about my drugstore fav’s really soon. But I do believe if you are going to invest in makeup then invest in a good foundation.
My Current Fav Foundations:
First up let’s chat about the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation that launched last year. I had my eye on it for quite some time and was really listening out to see if it was worth the splurge. The whole Dior backstage range really is so beautiful. The foundation is kind of like your Mac Face and Body so if you can’t afford Dior then that’s your best bet. I actaually went for 2 shades so I can mix up when I have a tan or go for the lighter shade 2.5 which currently I am using.
Its a buildable fluid foundation that leaves skin glowing and evened out. There are a 40 shades which is great so pretty much something for everyone. The waterproof formula is enriched with pigments that fuse with the skin to give a natural, glowing look that’s long-lasting while resisting high temperatures and humid environments.
To last the day I would definitely recommend using a primer and if you do live in a hot country then set your key areas with a translucent powder. The foundation applies beautifully and melts into the skin. I like to apply with a sponge for that seamless flawless finish. The final result a super dewy and radiant finish.
Next up the Chanel Ultra Teint All Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation that is the lastest in the Chanel foundation offering. I have chatted about this one lots but I really just love it. The coverage is beautiful and even though it has a matt finish it still makes my skin glow. Its super comfortable and lightweight and doesn’t dry out the skin. Of course my beauty regime is really extensive so when it comes to applying it just glides on.
The key features:
The foundation has a light diffusing complex that creates natural luminosity, with the absorbent powders that give a perfect matte finish, the Perfect Skin Complex resists water, heat and humidity, enriched with a silicone soft focus that corrects and illuminates, plus with a new technology developed that gives beautiful coverage and a radiant skin tone.
Absolutely love this one.
The Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation I first saw in action on Nikki Makeup’s instagram. If you looking for a recommendation on anything I suggest you watch her in action. I bought a darker shade in London as I had a tan and I am now kicking myself for not buying more. Currently I am too pale to show the foundation off but as soon as I get my hands on a lighter one I will be showing you all.
Again is a weightless super light foundation that just glides beautifully on the skin. Its got a velvety finish that mimics the look of smooth, healthy skin. The foundation evens out my skin leaving it looking radiant with a natural glow which I love so much. It gives great coverage and blurs out the pores. You can build up or keep it more sheer its really up to you. I love to apply the Becca First Light Priming Filter Instant Complexion Refresh to hep keep the foundation on but also to add more glow.
At the moment there is only limited Becca makeup available in SA on Muse Beauty and sadly this foundation isn’t available. Am crossing my fingers hoping that someone will get this brand over here soon.
Last up the Benefit Hello Happy Brightening Flawless Foundation the newest to my foundation stash. I picked this one up in Sephora. I was actually looking for the Hello Happy Soft Blur but they didn’t have so took this one instead. The brightening foundation has a more natural matt finish and good coverage. Where as the soft blur is more your dewy more natural looking. Definitely going to get my hands on it and then compare the two on my skin.
The Benefit Hello Happy Brightening Flawless Foundation is only available in 12 shades and launches in SA this month. This foundation Contains photochromic pigments that instantly adapt to brighten skin in any lighting, natural or artificial, flower acids to help boost radiance and hyaluronic acid to attract moisture to the skin’s surface and help maintain hydration.
I bought shade 6 as I was darker at the time but I could do with adding in a shade 5 and then can mix throughout the year. Living in Cape Town means I am sun kissed a lot of the time so I tend to mix my foundations to get my perfect shade. You definitely need to make sure skin is hydrated with this one so if you have dry skin this one isn’t for you. I am combination skin so it works perfectly. Will test this one on insta stories so you can see how it looks.
In the next couple weeks I will be chatting about my favourite drugstore so keep watching.
