Body Exfoliator

For those of you who follow me I am a massive fan of the clean skincare brand Ren. Everything I have ever tried I have loved. So when the Ren AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum (R780) landed on my desk I was super excited to test it. Its basically a body serum with AHA’s that work with the skin to naturally exfoliate, leaving skin radiant with a natural glow.

When it comes to exfoliating my body I can be lazy at times. Using a body scrub for me can be a head ache and doesn’t always feel so comfortable. This exfoliating serum wins hands down over a scrub any day. The acid is less abrasive than the course scrubs plus the acids work on a deeper level, effectively remove the dead skin cells, increase cell turnover, unclog pores and improve hydration in the short and long term.

Firstly before I chat about the serum I want to chat about what is an AHA for those of you who don’t know. Trust me before I started blogging I didn’t have a clue at all. An AHA is Alpha Hydroxy Acid which is derived from natural substances such as sugar, milk and grapes. They work by melting the intercellular glue that holds our skin cells together, to help the skin’s natural shedding process.  They are also are great to rejuvenate aging skin which is exactly what I need.

What’s the serum for?

Its basically for anyone that needs something a bit more when it comes to tackling dry and dull skin. This is due to its key ingredients

The AHA in this serum is the water soluble lactic acid from yeast that creates the exfoliation action, by dissolving the bonds that hold the dead skin on the surface and improves the skin’s natural shedding process.

As well as the AHA serum contains a probiotic extract (good bacteria) helps reinforce the the skin’s natural barrier (protects against external aggressors) and has a calming effect on the skin, and Xylitol from Vegetable Bark helps optimise the skin’s water reserves for better hydration.

My thoughts?

Firstly that citrus scent which is my all time favourite is something I really love when it comes to skincare products. It actually makes me feel super happy. The serum is really lightweight and didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy at all.

I absolutely love it and will be definitely purchasing again. It makes the whokle exfoliation process so neasy and pain free. My skin felt soft and smooth giving a natural glow that I love. I actually replaced my body moisturiser on the days that I used it. My skin felt hydrated enough just using the serum.

Available online on the Ren store as well as Wooloworths as well.

Mio Double Buff – The Review

I have never been one for dry body scrubs purely out of laziness. Its something I always get when I am at the spa because even though it hurts a little when you apply your skin feels amazing after. Welcome the Mio Double Buff (do it yourself at home) Dual Action Enzyme Exfoliator in the latest Fit Skin For Life range, what can I say it’s amazing.

Mio was a brand that I used post pregnancy and that’s what I associated the brand with but now they have a whole new range that focuses on the fitness of the skin. This product literally arrived at the perfect time, just back from holiday skin really dry after way too much tanning so when I laid my eyes on this product I knew I had to test it out straight away.

Use twice a week on dry skin and then wash away in the shower leaving super smooth and soft skin. It works really fast as you feel the results instantly. The scrub is combined of Pumice, Lava and Bamboo blended with Papaya and Pineapple enzymes to dissolve away the roughness, even out skin tone and pigmentation. Normally at this point after the holiday I am peeling, but this bad boy has removed all the dead skin leaving nothing but a healthy looking tan. Its also super hydrating with its natural moisturisers such as organic Shea Butter and Fig Extract so I just feel good after I have stepped out of the shower.

Its also a great one to prep your skin before you go away, before a night out to get skin looking and feeling amazing, if you are a model before a shoot or on your wedding day. LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.

The Mio Double Buff retails at R500 for 150ml but its one of those products that will last you a while and is available in certain spa’s check the link here to see where you can get your hands on it.
