Trying to get a gorgeous glowing complexion can be a rtough call for some people. Not only do you need a multi step process, get enough sleep and of course drink lots of water aa day to get yourself there its not easy or affordable. With life the way it currently is at the moment people are needing a product rather than a whole load that gives instant brightness. We are all looking for that glow to make us look healthy and the best way to achieve is a brightening serum which can mean instant luminosity. Plus throw in a gorgeous liquid highlighter and you will look lit from within.

Brightening serums can really revive dull looking skin, even skin tone and leave your complexion glowing. I also use them because they can also help against dark spots, exfoliate and also protect against UV damage with all the active antioxidants. Serums are a must in your skincare routine as they penetrate the skin deeper than other products. Vitamin C is one of the key ingredients when it come to brightening the skin. Its definitely one of my favourite ingredients. The Vitaamin C acts as an antioxidant by reducing free radical formation and preventing future sun damage.

In this post I chat about 3 serums from Clarins, Lamelle and Diego della Palma:

For those of you who didn’t catch my Clarins post  I went into great detail on the  Bright Plus Adanced Brightening Dark Spot-Targeting Serum. Its known to be a “double shot of oxygen” to the skin due to its two oxygenating ingredients rose-myrtle and acerola seeds extracts. Both boost cellular respiration to revive a dull complexion, revealing brighter, radiant skin and a healthy glow from within.

The serum comes in a cream form, is super light and absorbs really quickly into the skin. Leaving it feeling really hydrated, glowing and revived. The Clarins Bright Plus Advanced Brightening Dark Spot-Targeting Serum helps fight against pollution, UV damage and spots. Infused with superfruit extracts Rose-myrtle and Acerola Cherry seed, best known for its high potency in vitamin C, visibly brightens, boosts radiance, and helps reveal a more even skin tone.

The Lamelle Correctives Brighter Serum contains a unique combination of melanin-inhibiting ingredients as well as potent antioxidants to help prevent the formation of darks and reduce skin inflammation. Lamelle is a local South African brand that is super effective its the second time using and I really love it. The serum is oil based so not only is it working hard on the skin it also leaves skin glowing. You can apply on the key areas of the face which for me is cheeks aand chin where I have pigmentation. Its super hydrating and I apply this one in the morning as part of my skincare routine.

  • Key ingredients include:
  • Decabutin which prevents melanin production with no risk of cell damage, skin irritation or sun sensitivity.
  • Ferulic Acid which is a potent antioxidant that has been proven to fight free-radical damage.
  • Turmeric plant extract helps to prevent pigmentation production.
  • Oxy-resveratrol is a potent antioxidant with pigment inhibition effects.
  • Licochalcone A is a liquorice derivative that has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.
  • A Resocinol derivative that helps inhibit melanin productionas well as also stimulating the production of glutathione reductase (a potent enzymatic antioxidant).

The Diego dalla Palma Light Booster got launched in SA  just before lock down so have been busy testing this one out. This serum is perfect for sensitive skin and helps to reduce redness ,smooth and brighten the skin. The Light Booster serum was developed for people suffering with dull looking skin that’s lost its brighteness. Great for poorly oxygenated skin due to tress, laclk of sleep and jet lag. Its another oil based serum so as well as working on improving the skin it also adds a gorgeous glow.

Active Ingredients:

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

  • Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate (3%) highly stabilised  vitamin C that combats redness, darks spots and wrinkles.
  • Tocopherol (1.5%) nourishes and protects the skin from external aggressors.
  • Chromanol (0.07%) protects the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals and pollutants and regulates melanin production, while visibly reducing the appearance of dark spots.
  • Rosehip oil (10%) hydrates, moisturises brightens the skin.

My pigmentation is still an issue for me but its not gotten worse which is a plus. My skin texture is really great at the moment with a really lovely glow. Definitely all worth checking out.

Introducing the new beautiful Clarins Bright Plus Serum. Described as the “new generation of intensive brightening treatments” I was super excited to try.  For those that know me I struggle with pigmentation and dark spots. Living and working in a hot climate has done my skin no favours. So I am always on the look out for serums that will help brighten and reduce the dark spots. This latest innovation from Clarins is an advanced brightening dark spot targeting serum infused with a whole load of amazing active ingredients. Yes please.

So whats the Clarins Bright Plus Serum all about ?

I love that it comes with a pipette making it easier to get the right amount without wasting. As I mentioned its super light with the feeling of putting on a moisturiser. My complexion feels so silky smooth after applying each morning. The Hyaluronic Acid really leaves skin feeling so hydrated leaving a natural glow that I really love.

I have been applying the Clarins Bright Plus Serum every morning for the past 6 weeks. I can’t say yet if its reduced my pigmentation as mine is pretty bad. What I can say is I have no new pigmentation and its not gotten darker even though I have been in the sun. My skin is feeling really healthy, hydrated and has that glow so by the time I apply my base my skin is looking great.

Available in selected Woolworths, Edgars and Foschini and online at clarins.co.za definitely a great investment.
