drugstore makeup

I have been super impressed with the drugstore brand Revolution Makeup especially with their eyeshadow palettes and highlighters. I got my hands on the UK blogger Revolution Makeup Soph X palette and wanted to do an every day look. This palette is a mix of matt and metallic with a few really bold shades. What I love about the palette is you can really work an every day look as well as bump it up when you need.

Been busy testing out a couple drugstore brands Revlon and Maybelline to see if I can acheive a flawless complexion. Here I combined the Revlon Colour Stay Full Cover Foundation which is matt and the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer. I am absolutely in love with the concealer it works a treat its definitey good bye dark circles. The foundation actually looked good on my skin but it may not be good for everyone. When I wear a matt foundation I make sure I have really hydrated my skin with a good skincare routine. The trick is that skin doesn’t dry out.

There is nothing quite like applying a liptick to enhance my complexion than a bold lipstick. Some of my favourite makeup looks are super simple with a glowing complexion, groomed brows, loads of mascara and a gorgeous lip. Makeup DOESN’T have to be complicated and that’s what I always tell my friends and people I work with. Plus you DON’T have to break the bank with makeup either. So with that in mind I would like to introduce the Revlon Super Matte Lipsticks that really give my complexion a boost and seriously add to making me look fresh and glowing.

It’s that time of the year where the festive season is almost here and you most likley stuck in the office with piles of work trying to get everything done. Everyone I have been chatting to is over stressed and over worked. So I decided to write a quick post on a great glowing makeup combo I like to use to add a glow to my complexion especially when I am in need of a lift. We often get tired and our skin starts to look a little dull and makeup is a great way to give it a lift. Of course remember good skincare too!!!

For those of you who haven’t heard UK brand Revolution Beauty is here in SA. Its a super affordable makeup brand which will literally send you running to Clicks to get your hands on some of the bad boy palettes, highlighters and amazing blushes. Plus for all you vegan makeup fans out there the brand is vegan and cruelty free. Now I haven’t tried all their products but I did put one of the eye shadow palettes and highlighter palettes to the test. Super impressed with the pigmentation and how it looks on me. As you can see the colours are super pretty and I am glowing like a princess.

For those of you who suck at applying liner this post will show you the liquid liner beauty hack. Its super easy all you need is a liner, some tape and a makeup mirror so you can see exactly what you are doing. I purchsed the NYX Epic Ink Liner to test out the hack and it worked a treat. Now when it comes to doing liner on models I have no problem doing it free hand. When it comes to myself and with my sinking eyes (happens in your 40’s) I do the worst job of it.

I love makeup of course most of us want the high end products and think that’s the best quality but of its just not realistic. I believe that you have should have a mixture of both drugstore and the more expensive products and mix it up. You don’t need to go and spend R1000+ rand on an eyeshadow palette there are great dupes out there that really do the trick. In this post I wanted to share drugstore makeup that I recommend and will not disappoint. There are certain products that you really need to invest in. But when it comes to foundations, concealers, eyeshadows and lippies go check out Clicks, Foschini and Body Shop and you will find a whole load of beauties.

Its been some time since I have really focused on drugstore makeup. With my drugstore tutorial going live this week I thought it would be great to share what I have personally been loving. Its really been a couple of months of loads of new launches and actually I still have loads to get through. I never say no to a mascara or a gorgeous red lippie and I promise you will love my selections.

Beauty on a budget

Looking for makeup that won’t break the bank? The budget beauty brands are constantly launching new amazing products that have taken my attention away from the luxury brands and I find myself reaching for the budget brands  more and more. Here are my beauty on a budget picks that I am currently loving:

Garnier BB Cream Eyes R69.95: The latest edition to the Garnier BB family for the eyes, its a roll on so perfect if your eyes are a bit puffy this will help reduce the puffiness as you massage the roller ball under the eye area this helps stimulate drainage. Its a really natural looking under eye concealer and will make you look more awake, reduce dark circles, illuminate and give you 24 hour moisture. With the key ingredient Haloxyl which helps deal with dark circles by firming the under eye area, stimulates the elimination of red pigments and catch and absorb coloured blood pigments

Revlon Age Defying CC Cream SPF 30 R189: I am always looking for new foundations, BB creams and CC creams and when this landed on my desk at the beginning of the week I couldn’t wait to try. I love the quality and the fact that it has buildable coverage and if you looking for a natural finish then this is the one. Its a multi-benefit colour correcting and anti-ageing CC cream, that targets the very first signs of ageing and help improve the condition of your skin. The CC cram helps hydrate, smooth and brighten skin, i couldn’t stop touching my face as my skin felt amazing. My skin definitely looked brighter and smoothed and I also love that it has an SPF of 30.

Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara R119: I am a lover of Maybelline Mascara’s and on a recent budget beauty shopping trip I added this latest mascara to my collection. This mascara really opens up the lashes giving them it seems a little extra length and a lot of volume and for my sorry lashes this is exactly what I need. The applicator is described as a jet glide brush with micro bristles that gives massive volume clump free. Yes please!

Lee Stafford Aragonoil Miracle Shine Spray: This brand is new to SA with a whole range of hair products but I am especially the Arganoil range. This spray goes on after you have styled your hair to give a beautiful shine and finish to your hair. Its a light weight silicone free glossing mist for smooth and silky hair.

Happy beauty on a budget shopping.
