I am absolutely in love with this new product from Smashbox. I wasn’t sure that a BB cream could act as an under eye concealer because BB creams are more sheer than a normal concealer. But as soon as I tested the Smashbox BB Cream out on myself I knew all my concens went out the window.

Smashbox BB Cream promises:

  • Fade dark circles instantly and over time
  • Reduce apperance of puffiness
  • Visibly smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
  • Noticeably improves fairness

Plus it has the same benefits as a BB cream in that it primes, protects, conceals, hydrates and illuminates.

I love the cream comes in a twist brush applicator so there is no wastegae of product and you can dot under the eyes and then blend in with your ring finger. Dark circles are definitely concealed straight away and the under area is illuminated and hydrated due to its creamy texture. I love the fact that under the eyes is instantly brighter and it doesn’t crease like some concealers do. I haven’t used it long enough to say it reduces wrinkles and datk circles but it definitely has immediate effects.

Smashbox BB Cream Eyes 2

Sadly Smashbox BB Cream is not available online yet but you can get this bad boy at selected Woolworths, Red Square, Foschini’s and selected Edgars stores priced at R295 and available in 5 shades from fair to dark.

I seriously can’t believe Feb is almost over but its been another great month of beauty discoveries and rediscovering products I have in my kit. This post is kind of like what’s in my bag as its products I just can’t get enough about and have stood out from the crowd and products I just seem to reach for:

1) Mac Lightful Softening Lotion is my latest obsession. I bought mine overseas as it hadn’t come out yet in SA but I am pleased to say its here and also available online. Prepping skin before I apply make up on a shoot is vital as its the difference between OK looking skin and wow skin that just looks unbelievable. I can’t stress enough how important a beauty routine is. With this bad boy I find when models come on set being outside makes skin dirty and this lotention takes away any excess dirt, helps restrict pores and leaves skin feeling fresh. Apply onto a cotton wool pad and then apply to your whole face as if you taking make up off.

2) Revlon Colourburst Matt Balm in Audacious is a new favourite of mine. They launched this month in SA available at Clicks and I have to say I am a fan. I was sent a bright pink matt balm which I blogged about last week and then I bought this beautiful orange shade for myself and I am loving it. Even though its matt it doesn’t dry out your lips and I am a fan of orange lips. With a dewy finish on the skin and lots of mascara its definitely one of my favourite looks.

3)Bourjois CC Cream is one I can’t get enough off its one I have replaced foundation with on a daily basis as it has such great coverage and leaves my skin feeling soft and glowing which is what I love. Most CC creams I have tried are just too sheer for me or don’t come in my shade but this one ticks both boxes. A definite winner.

4) Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Foundation this one is my new foundation obsession. I went to the launch at the beginning of this month and really was so impressed by it. I will do a full post this week as it launches early March in SA. The coverage is sheer to medium but you can build it up, it glides onto the skin so beautifully and leaves a gorgeous finish. I have also used it on set and it reads beautifully in front of the camera so you know if you wearing it you will be camera ready.

5) Smashbox BB Cream Eyes just landed on my desk last week and I tried it on my tired eyes and again love at first sight with this product. It comes with a brush applicator so you can apply straight under the eye and then pat in with your ring finger. It has a natural finish but also gives a beautiful glow under the eyes banishing those terrible dark circles. Again will do a full review but needed to share ASAP. Will be available in March.

This month for me has been about perfecting skin and finding all the ways to have a beautiful glow for myself and for the models I do make up for. Its about enhancing natural beauty and making you feel beautiful.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Gosh Kiss Me 2

Gosh Kiss Me Lip Balm

Gosh is launching these gorgeous 3 in 1 lip balms just before Valentine’s and I got 2 of them in the post with a packet of Love Hearts in the post. They are a limited edition Kiss Me Moisturising Lip Balms that are pigmented like a lipstick, moisturising like a lip balm and shine’s like a gloss.

There are 6 shades to choose from Innocent Kiss (natural/nude), First Kiss (light Pink), Flirty Kiss (orange), Sweet Kiss (bright pink), Irresistible Kiss (deep red) and Hot Kiss (hot red) priced at R99 each so a great budget product. These lip balms are so hydrating and moisturising on the lips and are supposed to improve the skin protection barrier and are perfume and paraben free. They will be available at Edgars or Red Square from early Feb. Gosh Kiss Me 3I love how the balm feels on my lips and I love the shine once applied. Here is a pic of me with Flirty Kiss on:

Each month I have new favourite products that I seem to reach for when it come to myself and when I am on a shoot. So what am I loving this month:

Mac MasterClass Oval 6 Brush: Love love love. I have been using this now the past 2 weeks and I used it again on my model yesterday and I just love how the foundation melts into the skin and blends so beautifully. Its so easy to use and you can really get into areas like around the nose and the lips which normally I would switch brushes. The bristles feel like silk on your skin. If you haven’t gotten one already go get yourself one before they sell out.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream: Since getting the limited edition pot I have been using this product a lot. Maybe because I love the packaging so much I don’t know but I can’t get enough of it. Its great for a few things which I blogged about last month especially for keeping those lips hydrated and even though I still love my trusty Carmex this one is right up there.

Smashbox Hydrating Primer: The more I use this primer the more I like it. The skin feels fresh after using and gives a little glow. Especially as its hot right now here I don’t want my skin or the model’s skin to be too shiney this is perfect as a canvas before applying any foundation.

Smashbox Brow Tech: Normally I always grab my Mac brow pencils but in the last few weeks I keep going for this little winner. It has 2 shades and a wax to tame those unruly brows. Its easy to apply with a small angle brush and really defines those brows.

Clarins Crayon Kohl in Intense Black: This pencil launches in March is SA but I want to give you a heads up on the eye pencil. Its so easy to apply and also perfect for blending to give that smudged smokey eye. I used it on set yesterday to give some definition to my model and I love it.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch: What can I say its a great budget buy. When they first launched in London I was patiently waiting for them to arrive in SA. When they did I bought 3 of them but I am really loving this pink one. Feels great on the lips with instant hydration and is so smooth when you apply and leaves a pretty pink shade so its not too much.

So those are my picks. I promise I will do some more budget picks this month as most of you have spent all your hard earned cash over the holidays.

Hope you enjoyed my post. Shahnaz x

For me its all about online shopping especially when I am buying beauty products in the UK because I am a total beauty addict and always want what’s new and amazing. It makes life so easy especially if you live a crazy busy life or the beauty products you want just aren’t in your area. Slowly but surely South Africa’s online shopping is growing and more and more brands are coming online as well as new brands from overseas. I am hoping that one day we will have an online store like cultbeauty.co.uk in South Aftica but for now here is some of the online stores that I really like:

www.thebeautystore.co.za If you haven’t tried this site yet or had a look at it then you are realy missing out. This site offers international brands plus wait for it NARS!!! Yes ladies Nars which is an amazing brand of which I have quite a few items in my pro kit and they also stock the sheer glow foundation which is in my top foundation picks. The Beauty store offers a whole range of products from haircare, skincare, make up and his and hers frangrances of which all are amazing brands and one of the most exciting beauty sites available.

www.therubybox.co.za This site has grown and grown and now not only offers a great little box you can buy for yourself or a loved one and try out products and a small price and to try before you buy,  but their online store has really grown and is stock brands like Soap & Glory which coming from London I am a big fan of. Rubybox offers mid range make up, skincare, suncare, haircare and bath and body so there is something for everyone.

www.maccosmetics.co.za Finally Mac Cosmetics have come online in SA which I am so happy about it. For me Mac is a great brand in that they are always so on trend with their make up and they are have such an extensive range of shades and textures and allow you to really play with make up. Check out some of their make up tutorials on their site to show tips and tricks when using Mac products.

www.redsquare.co.za Redsquare offers a wide range of beauty products from high end to high street with products such as Clarins, Nails Inc a cool British nail brand and Sampar a beautiful French skincare brand. They recently added CK One Colour Make Up line which offers beautiful make up products with some really fun pops of colour. Redsquare even offers skincare for men so there really is products for everyone. Even though these products are available in Edgars stores it makes shopping so much easier to be able to order online and get it sent to your home or your work and when ordering you get to choose 3 free samples so you can sample new products.

www.renskincare.com I love Ren skincare and am so happy they have gone online making it accessible to everyone. If you haven’t heard of the brand its a UK skincare brand which is all about clean skincare with something for all skin types including acne so whatever your skin problem or type Ren has something. If you buy 2 or more products by the end of December 2013 you can a free gift worth R485 which is a great little offer.

www.thespashop.co.za This site is more about skincare offering spa quality beauty products. The site was started by  a self confessed beauty junkie who has years of experience in the beauty imdustry and is always looking for great beauty finds. This site is all about pampering yourself with body oils and body scrubs, there are products for preggie mums and babies as well as the famous beauty blender which I have and I love. So if you big into going to the spa r want to have a spa experience at home this is the site for you.

www.woolworths.co.za: Woolworths has some great brands instore like Smashbox but not all the woolies have all the brands so this is where woolworths online makes it so easy for you. What I also like about their beauty section is they have how to video’s so if you are buying some make up and you also want some tips on make up then check out their beauty edit section.

Remember when purchasing products like foundation online then if you haven’t tested the shades in person don’t risk it as the images online for foundation shade is not going to be a true shade so test out first in the shop unless you already know your shade don’t risk it.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Get Your Glow On with Lancome

So I have been testing out the Lancome Dream Tone for the past 7 weeks and I absolutely love how my skin looks once I apply but combine it with their new foundation that is launching next year its an amazing combination to get beautiful glowing skin. Here is a pic of me after using both products:

Lancome

If you follow my blog you know I am always seeking for products that will make my skin look amazing and give that beautiful glowing dewy finish. These 2 products combined are seriously my new best friends. So here is more on the DreamTone and Teint Visionnaire:

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 19.22.18

DreamTone: Its Lancome’s new ultimate dark spot corrector and beautiful skin tone creator and comes in 3 shades. I have been testing out no 2 medium skin tone for the last 7 weeks. I apply every morning after I have done my skin care routine and before applying my foundation. The DreamTone for me is a great product for the brightening effect I don’t think it lightened my pigmentation just yet but it definitely left my skin looking absolutely beautiful, feeling good and has for sure evened out my skin tone by the time it comes to applying my make up. Each shade is meant to work on different skin tones and problem areas so the light tone deals with redness and the dark shade deals with blemishes. The one I tested was for dark spots, uneven skin tone and sallowness and I can say for myself my skin definetly seems brighter. The product promises that after a while of using the DreamTone serum you will be able to go out the house wearing no make up. I think if you have a bit of a tan then maybe as it leaves the skin really glowing. The serum contains antioxidants and a triple action technology which has allowed them to tailor make each specific need of each skin type. Whether it treats all these problems I think more time will be needed to test out.

Teint Visonnaire Skin Perfecting Make Up Duo: I love love love this foundation and concealer. I tried it out this weekend with the DreamTone and I was so happy with the dewy finish and the beautiful glow.

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 20.39.45

The foundation launches in SA in February and is their new vision of high perfection foundation. The 2 in 1 helps combine perfect coverage with a natural finish. The high coverage corrector is enriched with Vitamn CG, it has a creamy texture and is amazing at covering dark circles, blemishes and pigmentation. The foundation promises to even out the complexion and visbly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The foundation is enriched with LR2412, the active ingredient integrated into the Visionnaire skincare.

To apply use you fingers and dab in concealer under eyes, around the nose, and on any blemishes and pigmentation and then apply a foundation  onto the back of your hand apply onto each area on the face the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and then massage in to get the flawless finish. This foundation is definitely my new best friend for me and on set.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

I Love Chanel Spring 14 Collection

At the recent Chanel launch for the new Spring 14 make up collection we got to have a look at all the beautiful colours and textures and got to take 4 products away with us. I took the pink’s because its a current trend now but was also a trend in SS14 shows. The collection itself is beautiful with pinks, reds and plum shades so perfect for all skin tones and where looks can be taken from day to night.

I got my hands on the Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in Diva a bright pink shade, the lip pencil in Sonic Pink, the bright blush Chamade which is a pink/red shade and the Illusion D’Ombre in Impulsion which is a pretty light pink shimmery eye shadow.

So here is a pretty look which encompasses all things Spring and Summer:

I Love Chanel Spring 14 Collection

For the lips I applied the lip liner and lipstick, I applied the blush with my fingers onto the apples of my cheeks you only need a tiny amount and for the eyes I applied the Illusion D’Ombre in the inner corner of my eyes just to give a little pop and not take away from the pink lips. As you can see I kept the rest of my face really clean and contoured and lots of mascara.

As you all know I love all things Chanel. I love the packaging especially the lipsticks and I absoloutely love the quality. Yes it is expensive but its Chanel right? With me I know I am not going to be let down by the quality and I will get the finish I need. The products are also amazing to use on a shoot and look beutiful in front of the camera. There is something really special when you pull out your Chanel products and I know the models are always happy to see me using it on them too.

The rest of the collection consists a 4 eyeshadow palette which is R645 and a duo palette at R485, 6 beautiful lipsticks in different textures priced at R395, lip glosses are R335, an Illusion D’Ombre eye shadows in a deep purple they are R380, 3 nail polish colours at R290, 2 cream blushes at R440, and a finishing powder to illuminate the skin at R510.

Normally I wait till its nearing the end of the month but I am loving so many new products from the launches I have attended, what I purchsed in London and products that have been sent for me to review. I feel very lucky that I get to test out so many amazing products and that I can use them for my work as well.

So here is the list of amazing products that I love:

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in 317 : LOVE LOVE LOVE. This matt red lipstick is part of the Christmas Limited Edition collection. I wore it to the Cosmo summer party with a contoured face and lots of mascara. It glides on beautifully and even though its matt it doesn’t dry out your lips which can be a problem for me. I am a massive fan of anything Chanel and their make up is always such amazing quality plus I do love a red lip.

Tom Ford Lipstick in no 15 Wild Ginger: This is the first time I have tried a Tom Ford lipstick I have some eyeshadows and his contour/highlight palette and the quality is so luxurious. I received this lipstick as part of a congratulations for winning Best Beauty Blog so I am one lucky girl. The colour is a bright orange with soja seed extract, Brazilian Murumuru Butter and Chamomilla flower oil which creates an ultra creamy texture. The lipstick glides on and feels so amazing on the lips and very hydrating plus its highly pigmented. The lipsticks don’t come cheap but definitely a great buy for that little bit of luxury in absolutely beautiful packaging.

Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation: I have just discoverd this foundation and blogged about it as part of the what’s new for Smashbox. I love it as its so light on the skin and feels like you have nothing on. It has 100% Liquid Light Technology that evens out skin for a natural and luminous finish, with gel covered pigments to blur imperfections. I have been testing it out all week and on Friday night put the sweat and hunidity resistant claim to the test. I went to a summer party and danced a lot for quite a few hours and the foundation still looked great when I got home. Definitely one for my pro kit and will be testing out on my Elle beauty shoot.

Maybelline Colour 24Hr Tattoo Metal in no 70 Barely Branded: As you well know I am a massive fan of these cream shadows but what I love about this shade is you can also use it as a highlighter. I have been wearing this cream to create a beautiful highlight on top of my cheek bones, along the bridge of my nose and on my cupids bow. A great budget buy which I can’t get enough of.

Estee Lauder Pure Colour no 12 Fire Sapphire: This shadow is part of the new make collection and its a shade that is so on trend and I am loving. I recently did a Colbalt Blue smokey eye tutorial using a similar colour. Its a great alternative to the black and chocolate brown smokey eye and paired with a nude lip and a flawless face you really can’t go wrong.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow in no 13: I love this cream eyeshadow pen. I first saw it in a video tutorial on net-a-porter and then ordered it online. By Terry is an amazing brand born from a make up artist and the quality of her products really are amazing. This pen glides on so beautifully and creates a easy but effective smokey eye and for those of you who struggle with make up this pen makes it so easy. Apply to the lid and then blend it.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

My Latest Beauty Shoot: Its All About The Drama

My latest beauty shoot with photographer Justin Polkey and model Emma Menteath was all about the drama. Strong facial expressions was the essence of the shoot and focus on different parts of the face so the lip, the cheek and the eyes and with a hair change each time.

The image above was the first shot where the hair was tonged and set in pin curls first while I prepped the skin and then when make up was done I brushed the hair out and spritzed with spray. The key make up for this look was the red lip. I used Mac Ruby Woo and a Mac clear lipgloss to create the lip. Justin wanted the skin really flawless so I prepped skin with a rich moisturiser and then buffed in the Georgio Armani Luminous Skin Foundation.

For the second look Justin wanted to focus on the cheek so it was all about contouring and highlighting which is a favourite of mine:

Emma_BeautyII_Shot 02_0465 copy

I used the Chanel Healthy Glow Powder in no 30 and 40 for the contouring of the face and for the highlighting I used Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Lightscapade which creates an amazing luminous finish. For the hair Justin wanted it ip and over so I flipped the hair over the head to the side and pinned into place.

For the last look it was about a dramatic eye we filmed a video tutorial on how to create the smokey eye so check out the video: https://www.shahnazlovesbeauty.com/videos/smokey-eye-tutorial/

Emma_BeautyII_Shot 04_0591 copy

We changed the lip to nude so that the focus could be on the eye. I based the lid with mac Blacktrack Gel Liner as its amazing as a base for a smokey eye, it dries quickly so be sure to blend immediately and when you apply another colour onto the black it makes the colour really pop. To blend out the edges I used Mac in Carbon and then on the lid I used a silver shade from my YSL Chromatics in no 10 on the lids up to the crease. For the hair I created a chignon at the back and teased the top of the hair and pinned it in.

So here is a little insight into one of my shoots. Check out the behind the scenes of the shoot: https://www.shahnazlovesbeauty.com/makeup/beauty-shoot-behind-scenes/

Hope you enjoyed my post. x
