I always love to share beauty trends on my post as I am always busy researching to see what’s in, what can I work into a shoot or just get inspired by makeup artists like Pat Macgrath. I picked out a few looks that really stood out for me and that look really incredible on. Glitter and metallic is definitely in and if you didn’t catch my post about howe ro rock the glitter trend then you can catch it here. I absolutely love metallic liners and in my previous post I use the Mac liner to show you how to make the look wearable. In the image above the same liner has been used but a more bold graphic eye has been created that looks amazing on.
Its been a while since I shared some beauty inspiration and with all the researrch I do for my job I love to share looks that I am totally loving. Some a wearable for every day and some a bit out there. These looks are definitely all about colour and textures but also a great way to learn how to use colour in your makeup especially this time of year.
My Grazia beauty trends editorial came out last week which focused on key autumn/winter makeup trends with two gorgeous models Mari and Milan.
If you didn’t catch the makeup looks from the Met Ball last week then here is the biggest trend of all the Red trend. Whether it be a bold red lip, a splash of red on the face or a touch of red on the eye its definitely a big trend among the stars.
In my recent Grazia beauty shoot I covered some makeup trends to match the hair trends for the story on a gorgeous dark skin model. So if you are unsure of what colours or foundations to use here are some tips.
In this month’s issue of Elle I did makeup for the beauty trend editorial covering all the trends for this autumn/winter so whether you want to go natural or all out this editorial has got it covered. The story was shot as if it was backstage at fashion week and I was so excited to be part of this amazing team.
The last two weeks I have literaly painted every single AW14 makeup trend between shooting Grazia dn Elle beauty I have done about 25 trend looks which got me to thinking about creating one of them for you guys on a budget. Gosh is one brand that is always current with the colours and I just love the quality and texture and the best thing of all is you won’t break the bank.
Its my fav time of year again this time its the start of the AW15 makeup trends at New York Fashion Week. I have been busy looking online at what’s rockin the runway and what are the cool products being used. Beautiful dewy skin will always be a trend and a lot of looks are minimal just enhancing the model’s natural beauty but there are a few looks with a little more.
These 3 looks are varations on a neutral eye that just looks amazing with hints of peaches, greys and browns with dewy skin, beautiful contouring and nude lips all seen at Thakoon, Prabal Gurung and Derek Lam.
The fresh face no makeup makeup look with neutral palettes seen at Jason Wu and Wes Gordon with key products like Mac Mineralise moisture foundation and Maybelline Dream wonder fluid touch foundation to create beautiful skin. Love the nails from Wes Gordon with another take on the floating manicure but in this occosaion the square is smaller.
The smokey /graphic eye is always going to be a trend but just with different takes on it each season. The legend that is Pat macgrath created a super cool look for Victoria Beckham with the liner and smoke on the bottom lash line and the most amazing looking skin.
Love the black smokey eye for the Diane Von Furstenburg show created by Pat Macgrath with the intensity on the top and bottom lash line and then fading out to the crease line.
The graphic eye with the gel liner is always a favourite of mine seen at the Edun show it looks cool paired with amazing contoured skin.
Love the dark berry lip and the silver tipped lashes from Caroline Herrera show. The berry lip is really one of my favourite lip shades especially when its matt.
Watch this space for the rest of the shows and looks I am loving.
My Favourite Backstage Beauty From Paris Fashion Week SS15
Sadly the last of the main Spring Summer 15 fashion weeks there were some beautiful looks at Paris Fashion Week making me so excited to work some of the trends on shoots.
Loving the Vionet look created by Mac where the skin is dewy and glowing from within. Cannot wait to get my hands on the mineralise highlighting powders and add to my kit.
The Manish Aurora look is probably one of my favourites because its fun and fresh, love the blue liner on the eyes its soft and so wearable plus I just love the sequin it makes the whole look just pop.
The gold metallic eyes at Alexis Mabille looks amazing with a flawless face and nude lip its perfect for spring/summer.
This look is not something you would wear for every day but I love it just the same, its an amazing take on the graphic eye that has been all glossed up. LOVE.
The look from Rochas I think wins it for me, blue is definitely here to stay when it comes to makeup but its more pastel and so very pretty. With lots of lashes and a pop of black sequins at the bottom lash line it is absolutely gorgeous.
The sunkissed look is always a favourite of mine, here Tom Pecheux created beautiful bronzed skin for Balmian. Its a simple look but so effective and gives a healthy glow to the skin.
As always the Dolce and Gabbana look is so pretty created by Pat Mcgrath, the legend of makeup artists. This year the liner is not as thick and the lip has gone from red to a beautiful almost stained fuschia lip.
What’s your favourite look?
Sometimes its really hard to come up with great content for my blog. Even though I am a makeup artist and its my job I still get blocked on what to write about purely because there is so much going on and way too much to talk about. For me writing a blog is all about helping others make informed decisions on the beauty products, sharing trends and helping with makeup application.
For me a great way to get inpiration is magazines I normally go for the UK ones as their beauty sections are really detailed especially this time of year as new seasons are starting so there are new trends coming. I find magazines help me with thinking up great trend tutorials or amazing new products that are out there that I can try out and report back. If you based in SA like I am magazines like Grazia, Elle and Marie Claire are goodies for the trends and beauty in general to help you with some fresh content for your blog.
If you feeling a little beauty block go get yourself some magazines or look online to get some beauty inspiration. Try some looks out and see how easy they are to achieve, take some pics and post. Or just get inspired by colours and play around with makeup.
As well as getting inspired reading a magazine is great way to relax at the same time and give yourself a break and a little me time.
Happy Friday. x
