The Fox Box

If you lead a manic life and never get a chance to go get a mani or pedi then the Fox Box is the answer to your prayers. How often do you think to yourself I wish I could have a treatment at home or even at work because you just don’t have enough hours in the day?

Its a service that is catered for the working woman or the mum that is stuck with her baby at home but still needs to look pretty and oh yes be pampered. The Fox Box caters for all of this whether you are at home, or a group of ladies wanting a pre-wedding pamper party, whether you have a spare 45 mins at the office or have a big group at work that need some pampering! Nice right?

The Fox Box company was created by 2 women Emma Gallo who had just had a baby and Tove De Chazal, who worked full time and both realised (one night over some wine) that it would be amazing if they could just be able to pick up the phone and get someone to come to them for a mani or a pedi, and that’s how The Fox Box was born. Its all about a luxurious no fuss just frills service, with luxury products giving you the salon experience at home or at the office.

Since I always have a pedi I thought I why not try the Magical Mani, I really liked the sound of the name. My therapist arrived with her boxes of goodies allowing you to choose from 3 brands Essie, Morgan Taylor or CND Vinylux:

I opted for CND because apparently its the longer lasting of the 3, polish never lasts on my nails without chipping after the second day, its day 5 and they are still going strong!

The magical mani includes the full manicure treatment that you would expect, but the touch I really love is that they come with their own organic products that have been made by Hello Gorgeous. This really sets them apart from any individual that does house calls and made it that extra bit special for me. I loved the Lavender Hand Soak the smell automatically relaxes you and then had my hands got massaged with the Hand Mask (love a good hand massage). I also loved the Peppermint Cuticle Nail Oil that was used it as it had a roller ball making it so easy to apply yourself. Soon you will be able to buy these lovely goodies online on www.thefoxbox.co.za.

The girls come fully prepared with all the shades for each brand for you to look at and decide, much easier so you can see what it realy looks like:

Foxbox 1

I went for the shimmery blue shade called Midnight Swim of course as I just love anything blue and literally bang on about it in alot of my blog posts:

Foxbox 3

The whole experience was great and super relaxing, and one that I will be using for sure and recommending to others. Check out the site here for all their pricing but basically pricing starts from R350 to R500 for a mani and pedi.

Currently the home service is just in Cape Town but there are plans to expand to Joburg and Durban. However the corporate service is available in those areas if you looking to pamper your secretaries or the hard working employees and show them some love. You soon will also be able to request an appointment online makeing it even more convienient then it already is.

For bookings mail bookings@thefoxbox.co.za or call 0715091954.

Have you tried The Fox Box service yet?

For me its all about online shopping especially when I am buying beauty products in the UK because I am a total beauty addict and always want what’s new and amazing. It makes life so easy especially if you live a crazy busy life or the beauty products you want just aren’t in your area. Slowly but surely South Africa’s online shopping is growing and more and more brands are coming online as well as new brands from overseas. I am hoping that one day we will have an online store like cultbeauty.co.uk in South Aftica but for now here is some of the online stores that I really like:

www.thebeautystore.co.za If you haven’t tried this site yet or had a look at it then you are realy missing out. This site offers international brands plus wait for it NARS!!! Yes ladies Nars which is an amazing brand of which I have quite a few items in my pro kit and they also stock the sheer glow foundation which is in my top foundation picks. The Beauty store offers a whole range of products from haircare, skincare, make up and his and hers frangrances of which all are amazing brands and one of the most exciting beauty sites available.

www.therubybox.co.za This site has grown and grown and now not only offers a great little box you can buy for yourself or a loved one and try out products and a small price and to try before you buy,  but their online store has really grown and is stock brands like Soap & Glory which coming from London I am a big fan of. Rubybox offers mid range make up, skincare, suncare, haircare and bath and body so there is something for everyone.

www.maccosmetics.co.za Finally Mac Cosmetics have come online in SA which I am so happy about it. For me Mac is a great brand in that they are always so on trend with their make up and they are have such an extensive range of shades and textures and allow you to really play with make up. Check out some of their make up tutorials on their site to show tips and tricks when using Mac products.

www.redsquare.co.za Redsquare offers a wide range of beauty products from high end to high street with products such as Clarins, Nails Inc a cool British nail brand and Sampar a beautiful French skincare brand. They recently added CK One Colour Make Up line which offers beautiful make up products with some really fun pops of colour. Redsquare even offers skincare for men so there really is products for everyone. Even though these products are available in Edgars stores it makes shopping so much easier to be able to order online and get it sent to your home or your work and when ordering you get to choose 3 free samples so you can sample new products.

www.renskincare.com I love Ren skincare and am so happy they have gone online making it accessible to everyone. If you haven’t heard of the brand its a UK skincare brand which is all about clean skincare with something for all skin types including acne so whatever your skin problem or type Ren has something. If you buy 2 or more products by the end of December 2013 you can a free gift worth R485 which is a great little offer.

www.thespashop.co.za This site is more about skincare offering spa quality beauty products. The site was started by  a self confessed beauty junkie who has years of experience in the beauty imdustry and is always looking for great beauty finds. This site is all about pampering yourself with body oils and body scrubs, there are products for preggie mums and babies as well as the famous beauty blender which I have and I love. So if you big into going to the spa r want to have a spa experience at home this is the site for you.

www.woolworths.co.za: Woolworths has some great brands instore like Smashbox but not all the woolies have all the brands so this is where woolworths online makes it so easy for you. What I also like about their beauty section is they have how to video’s so if you are buying some make up and you also want some tips on make up then check out their beauty edit section.

Remember when purchasing products like foundation online then if you haven’t tested the shades in person don’t risk it as the images online for foundation shade is not going to be a true shade so test out first in the shop unless you already know your shade don’t risk it.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Elle September issue is out and I did the make up for the photoshoot. The brief was a clean face, definition in the eye and 8 nail changes for every outfit! Here are the products I used to create the look and a step by step on how to re-create:

  • Prep your skin with a moisturiser or primer.
  • I blended Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation all over her face with a buffing brush and concealed under the eyes and where was needed on the face with Mac Pro Conceal/Correct Palette.
  • For the highlight I used Kevin Aucoin Celestial Powder and I applied along the top of the cheek bone and along the cupids bow and then I added a clear gloss on top of the cheek bone to catch the light and highlighted under the eyes with Touche Eclat.
  • I contoured her face with the Chanel Healthy Glow Powder in no 30 and 40 to create definition and a beautiful glow.
  • For the eyes I blended onto the lid up to the crease line Inglot Matt Eyeshadow no 337 and into the crease to add definition I applied the Inglot Matt shadow in no 452.
  • I filled the brows in using Mac Brow Pencil in Fling and then applied Gosh Show Me Volume Mascara in Black.
  • I kept the lips nude because of the bright outfits and kept the real colour to the nails so that they matched each outfit.

For the nail polishes the main brands used were Inglot as they have a fantastic collection, Nails Inc (neon and nude collection) and Essence for the red putfit in the magazine.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

The brief for this look was a graphic eye, bold brow and black nails. Here is how I created the look:

When creating such a strong eye look make sure you keep the rest of the face clean so that you are focusing on one area of the face.

Face: I wanted to keep the face dewy and fresh so I moisturised using Estee Lauder Day Wear Cream and then blended in Benefit Oxyen Wow Oh So Flawless Foundation.

Eyes: I used Mac Blacktrack gel liner to create the eye look. I traced the shape with an angled brush from the tear duct along the crease of the eye and then pulled out to create a winged effect. Once I had my shape I filled in the eye with gel liner. The gel sets fast and lasts for hours without creasing. I applied Benefit They’re Real Mascara to the top lashes. For the brows I filled them in with a black shadow as we were going for a really bold brow. Alternatively use a shade 2 X darker than your brows as black is very bold.

Contour and Highlight: I used Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate to highlight and contour and then added Mac loose powder in Silver dusk over the cream highlight. For the cheeks I lightly dusted Mac blush in Peaches.

Lips: I kept the lips nude firstly I applied lip balm and then I applied Mac Satin lipstick in Siss.

Nails: I applied Nails Inc Leather Effect.

Hope you enjoyed the post.

In my recent Elle main fashion editorial I created this look. The brief was fresh dewy skin with a pop of colour on the lip. Here is how I created the look:

Face: Moisturised the skin with Dr Haushka Rose Cream and then I buffed Benefit Oxygen Wow Flawless Foundation with my Real Techniques buffing brush. I concealed under the eyes using Clinique Airbrush Concealer.

Eyes: Applied Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study on the lid up to the crease, contoured the crease using Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Sable, then I went back over the paint pot with Inglot pigment in no 14 ,I filled in the brows using Mac eye pencils in Fling and Lingering and then applied Maybelline The One by One Volum’ Express in Black.

Contour and Highlight: I contoured under the cheek bone and jaw bone using the Smashbox Contour kit and highlighted above the cheek bone and into the temple with Mac Magically Cool Liquid Powder.

Cheeks: I applied Mac blush in Peaches.

Lips: I applied a Mac lipstick in Fusion Pink and then to create a matt effect I dabbed Mac pigment in Magneta Madness (neon pink) to the centre of the lips

Finish: By lightly duting Mac Prep & Prime translucent finishing powder on the forehead, nose and under the eyes.

Nails: Used Ciate nail polish in 3am Girl and then sprinkled multicoloured micropearls onto the wet nail and applied a top coat.

Hope you enjoyed the post.
