Stila cosmetics

The last week of January has flown by and I can’t quite believe we are in February already. I have been trying some new products out, attending a launch and have been working on my jewellery business with my sister. So here is my week:

1) I came across this Mac tutorial with Terry barber and its all about creating absolutely flawless beautiful contoured skin using a cosmetic sponge and cream textures for contouring and then just adding a touch of a cream shimmer to the eye for definition. I am a massive fan of beautiful contoured skin and I really love Terry’s take on it.

2) I attended the Nivea launch and they took us through all the amazing new products that will be launching in SA for body, sun and men so am very excited to try out. Sadly I can’t mention any right now but I will be posting soon. We were taken to the amazing Pot Luck Club in Woodstock and a menu was created around the new products and their ingredients which was such a great concept and the food was amazing.

3) I went for the best facial ever a second time with the QMS Medicosmetics products at their educational spa with the lovely Anel who really spoils me every time I go. My skin really has never felt so good after I walk out of their and you can get away without wearing any foundation as the skin really is glowing. They are launching their new serum which I am going to be testing out and they just launched their lip line corrector  which Anel used during the facial. Will be doing a full write up next week.

4) The product of the week for me is the Stila Magnificent Metals Liner  which I showcased in a video tutorial this week. It consists of a brand new texture that allows the gold shimmer to really shine through and its a texture I have never experienced before. There are 4 shades available so am very excited to try the others out.

Have a great weekend.

So its spring here in the beautiful Cape Town (glad I no longer endure English winter). The lovely Michelle from Luxury Cosmetics sent me the Stila In The Moment Eye Palette which is a shimmery palette with pretty shades for spring and then darker purple, bronze and black to take your look from day to night.

I decided to try the lighter shades and then blend in the darker prurple to create a pretty spring eye and then apired it with a Stila lipgloss to keep the look really fresh and summery.

Stilla Palette

Purple eyes

For my face: I buffed in Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and contoured using Hoola by Benefit.

For the eyes: I used thed an eye primer before applying the eyeshadow. Then to base the lids I took the lighter shade Desire and applied over my lid up to the crease, then I took the gold/champagne shade Wonder and applied that over the lighter shade. Then with a Mac 217 blending brush I used light and dark purple in Impulse and Glance and blended into the outer corner of my eye slightly winging out and I applied under my eye the darker purple in Glance. In the outer corner of my eye I applied the Smudge Stick in Tantra that came with the set and then blended it in. I finished off the eye with some mascara.

Lips: I applied the Stila Lip Glaze in Passion Fruit to give a pretty lip and not take any focus off the purple on the eye.

The Stila palette is great as you can create a pretty day look for work or when going out in the day and then to take it to a night look you can blend the darker shades in to create a smokey look.

Watch this space as will be filming a video tutorial using the palette.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

I really do love Stila makeup and if you bave been watching any of my beauty video’s then you will know I love the natural eye palette and the glosses. I was sent the new Stila Colour Balm Lipstick and luckily I was able to chose which shade I wanted so I went for Ruby which is a red lipstick, purely because I love red lipstick’s for myself and am always looking to add red’s to my make up kit. There are 10 shades available in South Africa and can be found at certain Woolworths and Truworths ranging from nude’s, pink’s, orange, purple and the Ruby Red.

I love the packaging and even before trying on the lipstick you can see that its going to be really hydrating. A lot of lipsticks dry the lips but this one doesn’t. I absolutely love it so much so that I featured it in one of my make up tutorials. My lips looked full, glowing and really soft. Even after having a drink it was still on my lips. What I also like about it is that it doesn’t stain and can be easily removed.

The lipstick promises the full pigmentation of a lipstick but with the nourishing properties of a lip balm. It has certain properties that make the lipstick really hydrating and it also has a cooling peppermint oil which makes your lips tingle hence making them look fuller. Most balms don’t give as much coverage but this lipstick balm as you can see has amazing coverage and colour intensity.

For my video I created the look below with the Ruby Stila lipstick. It was all about key steps to making the skin seem brighter and looking more awake (as I always look tired) . There is nothing like a bright lipstick to make your skin seem brighter and fresh. I would definitely reccomend purchasing this lipstick, it’s a bit more costly than your drugstore lipsticks but a little cheaper than the high end brands and retails in South Africa at R210. I can’t wait to try out the other colours.

The video will be up by the end of the week so stay tuned.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Here is a look I created for a shoot I recently did. The styling was leather and gold so I wanted the skin to look flawless, the berry lips was used beacuse of her pale skin and the eyes finished the look. I used my Stilla natural eye palette and Mac Paint Pot in Groundwork.

Eyes: I applied Mac Paint Pot in Groundwork and then with my Mac 217 Blending Brush I applied from the Stila palette Bliss into the crease and up to the eyebrow and under the eyes to add more intensity, and then Sandstone on the outer corner of the crease and the inner corner by the nose. On the lid I then applied sunset to make the eye pop and catch the sunlight. I applied          Benefit They’re Real mascara. I filled the brows with Benefit Browzing in light.

Face: I applied Estee Lauder Day Wear Cream and then buffed Benefit Oxygen Wow Oh So Flawless foundation into the skin, under the eyes I blended in Clinique Airbrush concealer.

Highlight and Contour: I contoured with Chanel Soleil De Tan and for the highlight above the cheek bone with Mac Irridescent Loose Powder in Silver Dusk.

Lips: I applied Dark side by Mac.

Nails: Inglot nail polish in no 714.
