I love when brands release new products and I am loving these new balms that offer a matt version and laquer version. I got my hands on one of the matt versions and two of the laquer versions.

Revlon Balms 1

The matt balms have a velvety matt look but are moisturising like a lip balm. The balms have a triple complex of Shea, Coconut and Mango Butters nourishes lips. I love the balm as even though is matt my lips still feel great and it glides on beautifully when you apply. They are launching 5 shades that will stay permanently on the shelf and 5 one time shades. Sadly the shade I am wearing Showy is a one time shade so if you love it as much as me then you will need to buy a few.

Revlon Matt BalmThe Laquer balms have a medium buildable colour pay off, and the finish has a high shine finish and highly moisturising on the lips. Plus they all have a peppermint Frangrance and feel refreshing on the lips as well as hydrated. I am also loving the price of R120 so a great budget product with on trend shades.

In this video I show you how to create a trend Summer trend look with beautiful bronzed skin paired with a bright orange lip. The orange lip is another big trend for SS14 and there is no perfect way then to create it using my favourite the Mac Morange.  In the summer months this look is really beautiful and definitely a perfect holiday look.

In this video I used:

Nars luminous Skin Moisturiser

Smashbox HD Liquid Halo Foundation

Mac Pro Conceal & Correct Palette

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightner

Chanel I’Illusion D’Ombre

Urban Decay Naked Palette using Buck

Smashbox Brow Tech

Shu Umera lash Curler

Charlotte Tilbury Fat Lashes

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar and Glow

Nars Blush in Luster

Mac Lip Pencil in Ablaze

Mac Lipstick in Morange

Mac Prep & Prime Translucent Finishing Powder

Love love love these liquid liners that are launching this month in SA retailing at R305. Among the shades I got my hands my favourite is the Colbalt Blue shade called Sapphire although I really love the Turquoise and the Jade too.

The trends we have seen for the Spring/Summer trends are bold graphic eyes and pops of colour and lancome has introduced these liners making them right on trend and they are also a great alternative to the traditional black. The liners are a perfect way to freshen up your make up look with a dewy skin finish and a nude lip.

image005-2The 24 Hour liner doesn’t streak and is pretty easy to apply, but make sure you prep your lid first either with foundation or a primer to get an even and smooth application. The liner has a wet vinyl finish that lasts, won’t smudge and  is waterproof. I like that the liner dries immediately after you apply unlike some liners that smudge on the crease of the eye when you open your eyes.

Here is a pic of the Sapphire shade that I am wearing in the photo’s it has a precision tip foam applicator:

Lancome artliner 3

Lancome artliner

Lancome artliner 1Definitely a beautiful product with intense colour and will be added to my pro kit for sure.

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick

Love love love these new Elizabeth Arden lipsticks that launched this week in South Africa. I got my hand on these lovelies last year and I have included in some posts but wanted to remind you all and let you know a bit more about them.

The lipsticks are ultra-conditioning and hydrating, highlighly pigmented and so silky this lipstick glides on beautifully leaving amazing looking lips and feeling moisturised (very important). Infused with moisture-enriched pigments that are clinically proven to keep lips moisturised all day . Volulip helps seal in the moisture to give lips a fuller and more sumptuous appearance and apparently have been shown to increase the look of lip volume by 15% and firmness by 13%.

As you can see the lipstick casing is absoloutely gorgeous and makes you want to buy even before you have tried it on. The casing has been embossed with a red door logo emblem in a sleek gold tube with the signature red design.

What are the key ingredients:

  • Moisture binding sheres: hydrate and seal in moisture to provide smoother looking lips.
  • Volulip
  • Moisture Enriched pigments: moisturising spheres surround and moisturise each pigment providing rich, lasting colour.
  • Shea Butter : a natural emollient that soothes and protects lips.
  • Vitamins A, C and E: a powerful blend of vitamins to help keep lips healthy and moisturised.

There are sadly not all the 40 shades available in SA but 17 shades from nudes, pink’s, orange’s, red’s and berry’s. I got my hands on Red Door Red, Electric Pink and Cocoa Bronze and I absoloutely love them. I would have to say the Red Door is definitely in my top 5 red lipsticks and the pink well that what can I say but I love it and its right on trend. I will definitely be going to try the berry and plum shades.photo-93 copy 3As you can see my little monkey of a daughter got her hands on the pink shade and attacked it! She loves make up just as much as me a make up artist in the making.

Elizabeth Arden Lips

They’s not available to buy online but you can get in selected Edgars store’s for R210 and they really are definitely worth the investment.

Hope you enjoyed my post. Shahnaz x

This is a trend I really love and there are so many ways to work this trend from the dramatic midnight blue smokey eye, to the colbalt blue liner or a safer option of blue mascara. Either way all the looks really are beautiful and easy to achieve.

Colour is a big trend this season but sometimes the colours may be too bright or too bold. Blue is great way to try out colour and it looks pretty amazing on most skin tones.

Here are some products to help you achieve the trend blue look:

Blue Trend

Products and Application Tips:

  • Lancome Artliner 24HR: Launches in February 14 I absolutely love this liquid liner it glides on beautifully to create that perfect winged out look.
  •  Urban Decay Eye Pencil in Chaos: Sadly not available in SA. I love the brand and I love their eye pencils they are so easy to apply and glide on beautifully to create a cat eye or just add a pop into the waterline to give a little edge to your make up look.
  • Top Shop Liquid Liner in Nightfall: A great budget buy I am a big fan of Topshop make up and the liners are great quality. This shade is a draker blue if the bright blue shades are too much.
  • Mac Fluidline in Waveline: A great product to create a modern graphic eye or a winged out look. Apply with a small angle brush. Also can be used as a base for a smokey eye so apply on the lid up to the crease and then apply your brighter blue eyeshadow on top this will really make your colour pop.
  • Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR Metal in Electric Blue: The best budget cream eyeshadows out there. Love this colour and love the texture. Its so easy to apply just take a flat brush and apply onto the lid and up to the crease and then blend in at the crease line so you have smooth edges. Its as simple as that.
  • Mac Eye Pencil in Hi-Def Cyan: A bright turquoise eye pencil and a great way to really embrace the summer trends. Apply as a liner on the upper lash line and wing out if your wing is not pointy enough then take a cosmetic bud and create the shape you desire by wiping away with the bud.
  • Mac Eyeshadow in Electric Eel: A beautiful bright eyeshadow. Remember when applying a shadow you need to prep the eye first don’t apply the shadow straight onto the lid as it won’t stay. To really make the colour pop apply a black gel liner onto the lid up to the crease and then apply the shadow on top with a flat brush and then blend in the crease. Your colour will really stand out.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Summer is almost upon us in Cape Town and I am very happy I no longer live in cold London (even though I miss my mates and the shopping). Its the season for bright lips and to embrace the key trends. I have gotten my hands on some amazing lipsticks from some amazing brands but have also been impressed by the more budget brands. For me there is nothing prettier or on trend then a flawless fresh face with a bright lip and just lots of mascara on the lashes.  I have included the new Chanel SS Collection out 27th Jan and the Micheal Kors lipstick will be out mid December.

So here are my picks:

Rimmel Apocolips in no 303 Apocoliptic: This is a great budget lipstick and was winner in the UK magazine Company beauty awards. The applicator makes this lipstick easy to apply it glides on beautifully and is highly pigmented plus it feels really hydrating on the lips.

Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar in Anine: I love this product especially when I am on a shoot. This is a great bright lip colour for this summer trends. Only a little product is needed and make sure to line the lips first to prevent bleeding of the product and pop on some lip balm to keep your lips hydrated before adding any of the lip tar.

Mac Lipstick in Lady Danger: One of the icon lipsticks at Mac I am a big fan of this shade. Its on the more orange side of red so if red is too bold a colour then this is a great shade to rock the Summer bright lip trend. Its a creamy texture with no shimmer and is a great shade for the paler complexions. Love it

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Melting Sun Laquer no 6: If you are frightened to go for a lip that is too bold and too bright this is a great option to still rock the bright lip trend. Its a gloss so it has a pretty finish and is a beautiful orange shade so perfect with a bronzed contoured face and lots of mascara.

Micheal Kors Sexy Bomshell Laquer: This lipstick will be launched mid December I got my hands on this lipstick and I absoloutely love the colour. Firstly it smells amazing it has a citrus smell so big plus and it glides on so smoothly. Give it a couple of coats to get the full colour and when its on your lips it feels so moisturising plus I really love the packaging.

Rouge Allure Velvet Chanel La Diva in no 44: LOVE LOVE this colour. This lipstick is from the new SS collection launching in SA on 27th Jan. I went to the launch last week and got my hands on this beautiful lipstick as well as the lip pencil. Its a bright matt lip but doesn’t dry the lips out. I love this colour with a fresh clean face and lots of highlighting on the face.

Tom Ford Lipstick in no 15 Wild Ginger: I absoloutely love this lipstick and the packaging. Yes it is expensive but its Tom Ford. I was sent this lipstick as a congratulations so am one lucky lady. The texture is beautiful and so luxurious and its a beautiful shade of orange. Fill your brows to complete the look with some contouring and a liquid foundation to give that beautiful dewy finish.

Hope you enjoyed my post. x

Recently I did a shoot up the West Coast and I got to do a modern graphic eye and instead of using black I went with a purple/blue gel liner for the lids which makes it much cooler. To create the eye you need a long wearing gel liner and an angle brush to create your shape. So here is how I created the look and the products I used:

  • For the face I prepped the skin with Nars Luminous Moisture Cream to make sure the skin was glowing even before I applied any make up.
  • I buffed in Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I love using this foundation as it gives great coverage and lasts much longer on the skin. It was a hot day so I wanted the make up to last.
  • On the eyes I used Mac Fluidline in Waveline and with the Mac 263 small angle brush I traced the product from the inner corner of the eye along the crease line then I pulled out and upwards, then from the corner of the outer part of the eye I joined the lines creating a triangle shape. Then I took a flat brush and filled in by patting the product on to the eye. Remember if you make a mistake take a cotton bud and some moisturiser and clean up along the lines to make it neat.
  • For the brows I used the Mac Brow Pencil in Lingering and then for the lashes I used the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes.
  • I contoured under the cheek bone, along the jaw line and along the top of the forehead with Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate a cheaper alternative is to use a cream foundation 2 shades darker. I highlighted on top of the cheek bones abd along the bridge of the nose and on the cupids bow using Topshop Highlighter Gleam.
  • On the cheeks I lightly dusted Mac Blush in Melba.
  • Lastly for the lips I kep it nude using Mac Lustre Lipstick in Archetype. Remember to hydrate your lips first before applying your lipstick I am a big fan of Carmex.

Chanel Christmas 2013 Makeup Collection

As you know I am a big fan of anything Chanel and when I received  some items from the Christmas Collection you can imagine I was pretty happy. Thanks so much Sarah from The Prestige Cosmetics Group.

The Collection Nuit Infinie De Chanel is all about seduction and sensuality. The passionate red shades for the lipstick and nail polish tinges the entire collection with boldness and seduction. Eyes are sculpted with sensual shadows with shades of chocolates and twinkle with glints of Illusion D’Ombre and glamour extends to the tips with the Cils Scintillants (mascara). On the lips the Rouge Allure unfurls in radiant colours in a velvet or satin version and then the Poudre Universelle Libre Moon Light is the unique beauty secret which illuminates the face and neck in a pearl shimmer.

I got my hands on a beautiful red velvet lipstick the Rouge Allure Velvet in no 317 La Precieuse, a bronze liquid liner in no 117, a cream shadow Illusion D’Ombre in no 827 Initation and a bronze mascara Bronze Platine to add a little glitter to the lashes.

I absolutely love the lipstick it glides on and even though is matt it doesn’t dry the lips at all and is highly pigmented. If you are a lover of red lipstick then this is a great one to have.

The Illusion D’Ombre cream eyeshados are a favourite of mine and I already have a few in my pro kit. They can be worn on their own straight onto the lid or added on top of a powder eyeshadow to make the eye really pop or used in in the inner corner of the eyes. When applying onto the lid take a flat brush and push the product up to crease then blend the crease with a blending brush and in this image below I added a taupe shade into the crease to create definition. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

The liquid liner is a beautiful shimmery bronze liner and glides on beautifully. Again this product can be worn on its own or with the eyeshadow like you see in the picture below and the bronze mascara adds a beautiful shimmer to the lashes. You can either wear on its own or add a black mascara and then go over with this mascara to make the lashes really shimmer.

Here is the look:

Chanel get the look

The new collection also includes a beautiful eyeshadow palette with colours from beige to plum so gorgeous evening smokey rich colours. Chanel have also included another Illusion D’Ombre shadow called Fatal which is a violet plum shade.

Screen Shot 2013-11-18 at 09.12.33

For the lips in the Rouge Allure Velvet there is another shade in the collection La Desiree which is an intense burgundy and then in the satin lipstick Radieuse is a blush pink shade which is meant to be very feminine.

Screen Shot 2013-11-18 at 09.17.08

The collection also includes a highlighting powder and a blush. The highlighting powder Poure Universelle Libre called Moon Light shimmers with bronze and golden pearlizers adds the final touch to the look. I will definitely be going to buy me one of these as I am a massive fan of a highlighter. The blush Joues Contraste is a universal rosy beige shadow with small pink and golden pearlizers that subtly revive the skin tone.

Screen Shot 2013-11-18 at 09.18.30

Lastly the nail polish is a beautiful red called Rouge Rubis which is a scarlet polish that matches the rich beautiful shades of the rest of the collection. There is nothing more feminine than a red lip matched with a red nail.

So if you are a fan of anything like Chanel you need to check out this collection it launches today in SA.

My Latest Beauty Shoot: Its All About The Drama

My latest beauty shoot with photographer Justin Polkey and model Emma Menteath was all about the drama. Strong facial expressions was the essence of the shoot and focus on different parts of the face so the lip, the cheek and the eyes and with a hair change each time.

The image above was the first shot where the hair was tonged and set in pin curls first while I prepped the skin and then when make up was done I brushed the hair out and spritzed with spray. The key make up for this look was the red lip. I used Mac Ruby Woo and a Mac clear lipgloss to create the lip. Justin wanted the skin really flawless so I prepped skin with a rich moisturiser and then buffed in the Georgio Armani Luminous Skin Foundation.

For the second look Justin wanted to focus on the cheek so it was all about contouring and highlighting which is a favourite of mine:

Emma_BeautyII_Shot 02_0465 copy

I used the Chanel Healthy Glow Powder in no 30 and 40 for the contouring of the face and for the highlighting I used Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Lightscapade which creates an amazing luminous finish. For the hair Justin wanted it ip and over so I flipped the hair over the head to the side and pinned into place.

For the last look it was about a dramatic eye we filmed a video tutorial on how to create the smokey eye so check out the video: https://www.shahnazlovesbeauty.com/videos/smokey-eye-tutorial/

Emma_BeautyII_Shot 04_0591 copy

We changed the lip to nude so that the focus could be on the eye. I based the lid with mac Blacktrack Gel Liner as its amazing as a base for a smokey eye, it dries quickly so be sure to blend immediately and when you apply another colour onto the black it makes the colour really pop. To blend out the edges I used Mac in Carbon and then on the lid I used a silver shade from my YSL Chromatics in no 10 on the lids up to the crease. For the hair I created a chignon at the back and teased the top of the hair and pinned it in.

So here is a little insight into one of my shoots. Check out the behind the scenes of the shoot: https://www.shahnazlovesbeauty.com/makeup/beauty-shoot-behind-scenes/

In this month’s Elle South Africa I did the make up for the Style For Less swimwear shoot. The brief was retro make up with a bright orange lip instead of the usual red. So here is how I created the look:

  • Prepped skin with Dr Haushka Light Day Rose Cream.
  • For the fair skin model’s I buffed into their skin Nars Sheer Glow foundation and concealed with Rimmel Wake Me and Mac Pro/Conceal Paletter and for the dark skin model I buffed in Bobbi Brown’s stick foundation and concealed using Bobbi Brown creamy concealer.
  • For the eyes I based the lids with foundation to ensure the eye shadow stays. For the fair skin models I applied from the Stila In the Light Palette Bare eyeshadow which is a matte ivory shade  and in the crease I blended Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Sable to create definition and for the darker skin model I used Chanel Healthy Glow Powder in no 60 on the lid and in the crease I blended chocolate shadow from the Stila In the Light Palette. To create the flick on the eye I used one of my favourite products the Mac Blacktrach Gel Liner using the Mac small 263 angle brush.
  • I filled in the brows using Mac pencil in Fling for the lighter girls and for the darker model I filled in the brows using Benefit Browzing in Dark. For the lashes I used Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara.
  • I contoured on the lighter girls using Chanel Healthy Glow Powder in no 40 and for the darker girl I buffed in Bobbi Brown shadow in Espresso and for highlighting for the lighter models I used Mac Irridescent Powder in Silver Dusk and for the darker skin model I buffed in Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Topaz.
  • For the cheeks I buffed in Mac blush in Tenderling for the paler girls and for the dark skin model I used Mac blush in Fever.
  • For the lips I used Mac lipstick in Morange.
  • I moisturised the girls bodies and for the paler girls I applied Mac Face and Body and highlighted their skin using Becca Luminous Skinfinish and for the darker model I highlighted the skin using Inglot Face and Body Bronzing Illuminator.
  • Nails I used Inglot nail polish in no 942 which is a Colbalt Blue shade.
