Jules Makeup Bag 1

The first in the series of The Makeup Bag I asked the girls from All Dolled Up Beauty Blog to share with us what its their makeup bag right now and Jules kindly shared with us what’s she is currently using for her every day makeup. I have been following their blog for a while and I love their posts and when I met them I knew I wanted to collaborate with the girls. Jules always has a fresh looking complexion so here is how she achieves it:

This look is all about a quick makeup face when Jules doesn’t have the time do do an eye or contour the whole face but wants that glowing face when she steps out the door.

“I have combination skin that can get very oily in the T-zone but also eats foundation around my chin so I use the the Smashbox Photo Finish More than Primer Blemish Control which keeps my foundation smooth and even throughout the day and treats potential breakouts with 2% salicylic acid.

I have a million foundations but the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation (Shade: 53) is the perfect colour for me right now. I was previously using the Smashbox Liquid Halo foundation (which I also love) but the shade I have is slightly too dark for me at the moment. I’m a HUGE fan of this product: it’s a great, neutral shade, the texture is smooth and lightweight, and it looks really natural on the skin.

When it come to makeup brushes the Real Techniques Buffing Brush is the one I pick up nine times out of ten when I need to apply foundation. It makes the process completely effortless and always creates a flawless finish. It’s such a pity that Real Techniques isn’t available in South Africa!

I love the Wake Me Up foundation for a dewy, youthful glow and the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (Shade: Ivory)  is equally smooth and illuminating. It’s so easy to blend and it does. not. crease. I don’t even have to set it with powder.

The Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil (Shade: Love is Blonde) double-ended brow pencil is an absolute dream, the felt tip helps to fill in gaps while the waxy crayon allows you to shape and shade in the rest of the brow. I use the disposable spoolie to brush through them before and after so they look nice and neat.

For the most  effortless eye make-up in the world I use the MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork; I simply smooth it over my lid with one finger, blend out the edges with another and then smudge the excess into my lower lashline. And voila, instant subtle smokey eye!

For my eyes I use the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal (Shade: Black) on my upper waterline for a bit of added definition and to add some extra depth to my lashline. If I’m feeling particularly energetic then I might smudge a little of this along the outer edge of my lashline too.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers – I mean. Obviously.

For the lashes I love the L’Oréal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara (Shade: Violet)  I know purple mascara sounds scary but this one is gorgeous. It’s dark enough that it looks black at first glance, but when your eyelashes catch the light it looks absolutely stunning. I get compliments on this almost every single time I wear it and it’s truly flattering for all eye colours.

The best blush in the world is the Benefit Dallas Blush, full stop. It’s the perfect rosy brown that gives the cheek a bronzed and contoured look in one sweep, and bringing it up onto the temples just adds to the “just back from a summer holiday” effect. I’ve had this for years and I never get tired of it.

The Real Techniques Blush Brush is one of my go to brushes because the fluffy, tapered shape is perfect for seamlessly blending out blush and bronzer and I use this brush every single day for both.

A recent purchase the MAC Patisserie lipstick inspired by Lily (Pebbles) and Anna (VDM), this has become my ideal everyday nude lip colour. Layered underneath the Nyx Butter Gloss in Creme Brûlée, it’s just perfection.

Thanks Jules for sharing your favourite makeup products definitely going to check out the Creme Brûlée as one can never have enough nude lippies right. If you don’t know the blog go  check out
